A juvenile Red-necked Phalarope swimming to the right on blue water. Its face, throat, and breast are whitish, contrasting with the dark brown crown and nape. A dark eye stripe and finely patterned dark back are visible. Its reflection and spreading ripples appear on the water beneath it. 青い水面を右に向かって泳ぐアカエリヒレアシシギの幼鳥。顔から喉、胸にかけては白っぽく、濃い褐色の頭頂から後頭部と対照的に見える。目を横切る黒っぽい線と細かな模様のある暗色の背が見える。水面には姿が映り、周囲には波紋が広がっている。

Long-tailed Sibia, Heterophasia picaoides, appeared occasionally in small flocks in the Hutan Lipur Parit Falls trail at Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands in March. Very difficult to photograph as the flock moves fast through the canopy.

Endemic to Java. Seen thanks to Adunbahrum (see FB/Insta) who knew the stakeout.
