Good question, as ringers you see so many of each common species that when something rare appears then you notice straight away, then it’s a case of knowing what’s possible, and knowing the ID features, with Raddes it’s mottled ear covert, pink legs, yellow undertail coverts, thick stubby bill.
A well deserved reward for Stour Ringing Group who put huge amounts of effort into ringing sites across Poole Harbour. A stunning Raddes Warbler at Lytchett Bay this AM
