This late Cuckoo has been at Low Newton for the last few days. A fearless juvenile, more concerned with finding caterpillars than the people stood nearby watching it. At one point it landed right at my feet to pluck a caterpillar out of the grass, amazing !

Todd's at Budle Bay this p.m. Apparently not the bird photographed by @budlebirder.bsky.social a few days ago - this one is darker-breasted with a really narrow and dirty strap #UKbirding #NEbirding

An obvious arrival of Barnacle Geese today, with birds flying in off the sea into a fresh westerly, bringing numbers around the bay to at least 4,500 by late afternoon inc three leucistic birds #BudleBay #NEbirding

We caught site of this Short Eared Owl last night just as the light had gone and it was starting to rain.

Possible that this bird, which has turned up in Lothian in the past, is making its way north past Northumberland today #NEBirding

This white goose got the heart going whilst seawatching at Longhoughton Steel at lunchtime. To then see it tracked up the coast by various other sightings was cool. I had it as a leutistic Barnacle on reviewing some scope footage. #NEbirding

Another day of westerlies, with some drizzle thrown in for good measure this morning. These four barnacle geese heading north over Tynemouth Pier kept the #patchbirding year list ticking over though. #nebirding

Just driving into our village this afternoon when I got seriously distracted by 3 Cranes flying overhead ! Pulled over as quickly as I could and got some really nice views. Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me.

Another day, ANOTHER JAY ! Only my 4th ever patch Jay, hot on the heels of the 3rd (7 days ago). This one was flying steadily north along the coast.

A little trickle of birds this morning, 2 Redwings and a Chaffinch in off the sea. 2 Wheatears and a Cuckoo still at Low Newton.

Before the excitement of Cranes, a potter around Craster produced a few Chiffchaff, one Whooper Swan, and another six Mediterranean Gulls (which seem to be everywhere at the moment). And a very impressive sun halo #NEbirding

See that red ring? That’s our very distant view of the Northumberland coast, across which have just flown 3 Cranes, giving a 10 second view at something like 4-5 mile range. House mega! With thanks to @gary-woodburn.bsky.social for the tip-off 🍾🙂🏡✅ #NEbirding

The two Shore Lark at Frenchmen’s Bay have not featured much on Bluesky, so here’s a few from today, hopefully some one or two slightly different poses from the norm.
