After surgery, a #stoma may have a little mucus or minor bleeding. As it heals, it should be pink or red, moist, not painful. A small amount of bleeding when cleaning can be normal, but persistent bleeding, pain or unusual changes should be checked.

Changing #ostomy system: Empty pouch. Remove wafer with adhesive remover or warm water. Clean the stoma and surrounding skin; avoid soap. Pat dry. Use powder/barrier film if needed. Cut opening, warm wafer with your hands and press around the #stoma. Use ring or paste if needed.

One-piece #ostomy system: Easier to apply, sits flatter. Harder to check #stoma fit; Changing whole system to swap bag. Two-piece: Change bag only, switch bag for specific activities, easier to check stoma fit. Couplings can be tricky; order barrier + bag.

Some ostomates say carnivore diets may reduce blockage risk and pouch volume, but evidence is limited. For ileostomates, dehydration/electrolyte loss and high-output risk are concerns; tough meat can cause blockage if poorly chewed. Consult your doctor.
