Rather crappy pic (250 m range across the Tyne) of an odd graellsii Lesser Black-back Gull (unless it's something else!) with definitely pink legs (no hint of yellow!) at Elswick on Saturday morning for #SuperSeabirdSunday

2026 green patch yearlist thread, 26 September; #126 with this Garganey at Swalla, found by SPP. Scarce on the patch in recent years, my first since May 2022; before that, they used to be near-annual.

12 Little Gulls off Low Newton village this morning + a Merlin that appeared to arrive off the sea (but could have been hunting offshore rocks ?).

Little change elsewhere... a few Meadow Pipits trickling south.

Here is another bee-eater

A photo of a bee-eater perched on a leafless tree, viewed from the rear left side. The bird is leaning its body slightly around the vertical branch. The sun is coming from the right side. Consequently, its right side is in shadow. Its tail is also in shadow. You can see its orange-brown back, a turquoise-blue underside, and a head that is brown with a yellow chin—white in between—and a black stripe around the eyes. The backround is blue green blurred.

An easy spin round the western levels: no sign of the Cattle Egrets down fly tip lane; Red Kite high E over Peterstone; adult Med Gull amongst 750++ (probably 1,000+) aerial feeding BH Gulls just W of Peterstone Gout; Greenshank at the gout. #gwentbirding #birdingbybike #lowcarbonbirding

A male blackbird is perched on a branch. The background is lighter, with a blurred blend of light blue and green, making it look like a silhouette. There is also a sort of patch of light in front of the bird.A grosbeak is perched on a single leafless branch. In the background is a blue sky. The bird is a light reddish-brown color, has a sturdy beak, and a dark eye stripe.

A great tit and a juvenile mute swan

A great tit is perched on a branch, photographed from the front. It has a yellow belly with a dark stripe down the middle, a white head, and a large black cap. It looks somewhat stern.A profile view of a young mute swan swimming on a lake. Its head is turned to the left; the water appears very dark, and the bird is reflected in it. Its plumage is not yet pure white but partially grey, giving it a silvery sheen in the sunlight.

That time of year again: @webs-gsmp.bsky.social by bus! Unsurprisingly for September, Port Solent (Portsmouth Harbour) was quiet with a grand total of 27 Black-headed, 3 Common & 1 Herring Gulls 😅 #LowCarbonBirding

Window view from the bus showing the top of the harbour on the opposite side of the road. Paulsgrove Lake with shipbuilding yard and Portchester Castle in the distance Marina with lots of white boats. Behind is exposed chalk from a quarry on Portsdown Hill. It is sunny with some white clouds. A few houses can be seen around the marina Amy is wearing olive trousers and sat on a blue and pink patterned seat. In the gap is a grey and red hiking rucksack with a tripod strapped to it n the side pocket. The tripod is slightly taller than the bag. It is missing a head (packed inside bag). The tripod is held in place with an extra strap attached to the load-bearing strap used to lift bags. The frame is made of trampoline mesh. It has some tape to repair holes. The bus is mainly grey but has a photo with grass

A spotted woodpecker is flying toward a tree on the left. The woodpecker is still in the air and looks like a black-and-white ball of feathers. You can see its head with the red crest.
