What's happening here? Maybe something changed part way through 2023 on urban/residential 30mph roads! I wonder if it could be that from Sep 17th 2023 95% of roads with a 30mph limit were changed to 20mph. #20splenty making your place an even better, safer, quieter, fairer place to be!

Rising food prices? Bikes are the answer!

These Friday night rides will be slightly different from the Saturday ones, the music might contain strong language and the route won't be published ahead of time but expect a ~5miles (8km) city centre (Voi compatible) ride. You can see them as the punk sibling of the Saturday ride 😉

Ready an other Critical Mass ride? Join us this Friday 2nd of October, 7.30pm, Middle meadow walk for an evening ride going through the city centre and finishing on Bristo Square!

And here are a handful more photos from yesterday's ride! Also, contrary to what was mentioned earlier, our next ride will be this Friday evening 7.30pm starting from Middle Meadow Walk. After the experiment phase over the summer, Friday evening rides are here to stay!

If you want to help out with any aspect of the ride, please get in touch. There are loads of little bits that need done like route ideas and making graphics and things on the day. There's a planning meeting on Mon 28th in Edinburgh University Library George Square, room 1.10 at 7.30pm

Beautiful autumn afternoon for the September Edinburgh Critical Mass ride yesterday. Enjoyed the company and seeing parts of south Edinburgh that I hadn't seen for a while. @edcriticalmass.bsky.social

New Critical Mass this very Saturday, 2pm from middle meadow walk. This time we will ride towards Cluny Gardens and King's Building. A route used by many students daily but that could be made a lot safer for cycling.

Extreme weather makes The Bike Station’s mission even more important. Worsening climate has flooded the Bike Station and they need to clean up their workshop.

They are a charity doing good work, including the Wee Bike Library and they need our help.

Good turnout at @edcriticalmass.bsky.social today. Great speech from @lorenzomartinico.bsky.social on what action's needed from the council to ensure streets are for people, not just cars.

Beside the impromptu ride this evening (see last post). We will have our Monthly ride tomorrow, 2pm, from Middle meadow walk! The 9.3miles (15km) ride will have a wee break on Porty beach to enjoy the view, maybe get an ice cream? Looking forwards to seeing many of you tomorrow!

Cycling is beneficial to both the cyclists and the people around them, but you don't get all the available benefits if half of people are afraid to ride.

The obvious way to improve safety is to build cycling infrastructure.
