Great White Egret flew south over Green Lane, Marske. Also Short-Eared Owl harrassed by crows along Marske Stray, headed towards Redcar. A few Redwings and Song Thrushes in off too. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social #UKBirding #NEBirding

Grey plover being blasted by the waves on Spanish Battery Rocks, Tynemouth this evening. Not a common bird here by any means, even if I was hoping for better given the easterlies and murk. Newly arrived brambling and wheatear late on provided some hope for tomorrow though... #nebirding #patchbirding

A few migrants trickling in today, highlights were a brief Little Bunting at Football Hole and watching newly arrived Robins feeding amongst boulders on the shore at Newton Point. 32 Little Gulls, 1 Manx Shearwater and 1 Arctic Skua off Newton Point this afternoon.

A strangely quiet day with @yolobirder.bsky.social on Holy Island - a handful of Bramblings the highlight - was suddenly improved by being in the right place at the right time to see the Olive-backed Pipit found by Stef McElwee. A surprisingly rare bird in Northumberland #NEbirding

My morning walk on coast didn’t result in any good finds, so a bit of afternoon twitching thanks to a Corncrake found by @mickthebirder71.bsky.social in Seaham was very welcome. Everyone present got brief but good flight views after 4 pm - a nice county ✅ for me. #NEbirding @teesbirds.bsky.social

Despite good birds either side of us at Holy Isle and Newton, migrants were notably scarce. The highlight was 250 Little Gulls ,with three Bramblings + four Redpolls also recorded. With little else moving, attention turned to a close Grey Plover #BudleBay #NEbirding

The Rock Pipit at Dunston, Gateshead showed again this afternoon on the exposed seaweed off Kingfisher Court - some 12 or more miles inland #NEbirding

Poor photography but good seawatching from Whitburn last weekend: Great White Egret (take my word for it!), Teal Scoters, Pintail and Wigeon. #NEbirding

Straight back into local birding after getting home and the juv Spotted Redshank at St. Mary’s Wetland was the priority. Amazing that it’s stayed for over a week and waited for me to get back from holiday… full patch tick for me, a seriously tough bird to catch up with here! ☑️ #NEBirding #UKBirding

Can anyone comment on the *Aythya* at Cresswell Pond today? I had it (her?) down as a Scaup due to structure, lack of any tuft, small and central 'nail' on the bill. But it seemed dark in odd places and a bit on the small side and I wasn't so certain. If Scaup, which sex and plumage? Thx
