Breadmarket Street, Lichfield. The postcard was issued by Boots ‘Pelham’ series and it would date to 1909/1910.
In 1891 Mrs Till opened at the birthplace of Samuel Johnson. The business lasted about two years before a private house.

The latest episode of the “Hittin’ The Bricks with Kathleen” podcast is One-Place Studies: Meet Denise Cross. An enjoyable half hour chat about #OnePlaceStudies, with lots of references to Denise’s Granville, Washington County One-Place Study in the state of New York. #OnePlaceWednesday

Image: Colour photo of a view looking across a lake. In the foreground are reeds fringing the nearside of the lake. On the far side is sheep pasture, gently sloping upward, with small trees and shrubs dotted along the water's edge, a few more trees in the pasture, and even more trees on the horizon, below a pale blue sky with white cloud.

It’s not just #OnePlaceStudies people the iLands AIs are targeting...

Fellow #OnePlaceStudies researchers beware – AI agents / bots / nuisances are targeting us! If you are able to tweak your email spam settings, it may be worth adding ‘ilands’ as a word to identify spam.

“[Further] rounds of material” to be added “in the coming months and years” (and hopefully improvements to site functionality) may increase the site’s usefulness to #OnePlaceStudies. Meanwhile Legacies of British Slavery provides greater scope for finding OPS residents connected with slavery. [2/2]

Rare treat for me - a whole day devoted to #OnePlaceStudies! I’m researching one of the patients in my Temple Lodge Home for Inebriate Women #OnePlaceStudy, who lived in #Ruthin, Denbighshire. Next - ordering some death certificates for my causes of death project. Then some course homework.

Oooh, my first #OnePlaceStudies AI spammer! Please enjoy these incoherent ramblings: "I found your study while reading around one-place work online, and the Wing that survives under the notices got me: the Biggs auction, the Capp house ad, a whole farming life listed line by line."
