There are so many talks to choose from for this year's #aatp2026 #aatp event. Here's my little contribution:

My @sogorg.bsky.social #AATP talk about my ancestor John Whick has gone live. He was a musician on board HMS Victory and wrote letters home to his family. I have another talk on a completely different topic tomorrow too!

I have 3 #OnePlaceStudies - a village (population c600), a #StreetStudy of 28 houses, & a home for inebriate women (total of no more than 100 people). I tend to hyperfocus on one at a time, but the focus shifts, so they all get their turn!

A question many one-placers ask ourselves often - #OnePlaceStudies are very addictive!

Public Health in Practice: Dr Keer of Plomesgate
John Cordy Keer was Medical Officer of Health for the Plomesgate district of Suffolk for 54 years. In this talk, we explore the vital public health work of the Medical Officer of Health throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We uncover how these local Medical Officers of Health battled infectious diseases, poor sanitation, and rural housing issues. We will also discover practical strategies for researching historical public health records using local archives, council minutes, and local newspapers to reconstruct this fascinating history.

@willsmanonename.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 8:21 PM

Tomorrow’s #AATP theme is Health and Medicine. I’m sure one-placers will want to refer back to these during the @oneplacestudies.bsky.social’s #OnePlaceHealthcare ‘shared endeavour’ next year. So it’s no coincidence that as a platinum sponsor, SOPS is sponsoring tomorrow!

Please excuse a shameless #OnePlaceWednesday plug for my talk about Dr John Cordy Keer, Medical Officer of Health for the Plomesgate District which covered my #OnePlaceStudy of #Sudbourne. It goes live at 8am tomorrow. If the role sounds bureaucratic & boring, think again…

What a dummy I am - got engrossed in something & forgot the watch party 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I watched it as soon as I remembered, & very good it was too - especially for anyone in the USA who is thinking of starting a #OnePlaceStudy. Here’s a link to it
