What a piece of work is man — look at the wonder of our mortal frame: short sight, arthritis, piles, and acne, gums are abscessed, cysts inflamed, impacted wisdom teeth and asthma, bowel cancer, unnamed pains. And how could we have been created by a less than perfect Cause? What a piece of work is man — look at our glory, at our splendid ways: the bodies piled, discarded offal, raped, their throats slit, set ablaze, the fragrant smoke an awful signal of a feast for birds of prey. And how could we be chance productions, born of cold, unthinking laws? What a piece of work is man — look at the heaven that he’s made of Earth: the poisoned rivers, flattened forests, oceans clogged with plastic scurf, of great apes, elephants, and dolphins, whales and tigers now a dearth. And how could we not owe our nature to the Mighty, Loving Source?
