The #ÉcoleBiblique facility in #GazaCity was bombed by #IDF on #ThisDayInHistory in 2025. If #Zionists cared about regional history they would not have continually destroyed its artefacts since 1948. #Gaza has been populated for 3600 years, and attacks on museums are a #WarCrime.

The #SeptemberDays, a last major massacre of #WorldWarI, began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1918. The #Ottoman forces of #EnverPasha intervened in the #RussianCivilWar just to slaughter the #Armenians of #Baku, #Azerbaijan, meaning this event is a part of the wider #ArmenianGenocide.

In a case that remains a fixture in #neuroscience textbooks, on #ThisDayInHistory in 1848 #Vermont railroad worker #PhineasGage survived an iron rod passing through his head, largely destroying his left frontal lobe. His personality changes taught us much about brain structures.

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1911, inspired by workers' strikes that year, school children in #Hull organized a #strike against corporal punishment as part of a wave of such strikes, with many hundreds involved. Alas, it stayed legal for UK teachers to beat & cane students until 1985.

German #OceanLiner #SSKronprinzessinCecilie, launched in 1906, had been seized by the United States during #WorldWarI and used as troopship #USSMountVernon. She was then mothballed for future use, until finally sent for scrap on #ThisDayInHistory in 1940 as hopelessly outdated.

The #OsloAccords were signed on #ThisDayInHistory in 1993, in which #PLO recognized #Israel, gaining only limited autonomy for #Palestinians. Mainstream views ignore that this was a scam, and that genocidal #WarCriminal #YItzhakRabin conned #YasserArafat into abject surrender.

But the story didn't end with “Gage was no longer Gage.”
His later life may also tell us something remarkable about the brain's ability to adapt.

During the surprise #BattleOfTelElKebir during the 1882 #AngloEgyptianWar, on #ThisDayInHistory, the British forces mowed down retreating Egyptian soldiers, and all of the wounded were killed. Eyewitness accounts tell that far fewer died in battle than in the slaughter afterward.

Having defeated #Afghan forces in the #BattleOfTezin Pass, British troops celebrated on #ThisDayInHistory in 1842 with characteristic #WarCrimes. Nearby villages were massacred, with every man and boy over 14 bayoneted or shot dead, alongside other predictably horrifying crimes.

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1918, #EugeneVDebs was sentenced under the 1917 #EspionageAct. He gave one of this country's most moving speeches to the court. As I cannot record it, I found someone else who did, though regretfully they left out some parts. -->

The lovely #SSParis was launched on #ThisDayInHistory in 1916, though the #CGT #OceanLiner was not completed until 1921 due to #WorldWarI. Famous for costly mishaps in service, and for her fiery ending and the harm her wreck did to #SSLiberté, she was nonetheless a popular ship.
