"the 1 thing that really annoys me..is saying #DisabledPeople are #lazy. This is just not true. I have just #retired and just given up work..I think they really do need to assess what is wrong with the person.": buff.ly/2bkw5yf

If your symptoms feel random, try tracking just one trigger for a week: sleep, stress, food, weather, or medication timing. A small pattern is still useful information. #SymptomTracking #HealthJournal #InvisibleIllness #ChronicIllness

Behind the statistics are people trying to manage pain while continuing with everyday life and work.

Creating more understanding workplaces starts with learning more.

Pain Association Scotland graphic on a purple background. The headline says, “A survey of people living with chronic pain in Scotland found 56% said pain limited their life or work every day and 32% said most days.” It cites Alliance Scotland as the source. The central image shows a woman holding her shoulder while working at a laptop and a man in protective work clothing looking down at work. Purple and green circles highlight the statistics: “56% said pain limited their life or work every day” and “32% said most days.” The Pain Association Scotland logo appears at the bottom.

How many “what ifs” come with living with pain?

What if I can’t keep my plans? What if I’m not reliable at work? What if people don’t believe me?

These concerns are real. Find information and support through PALM: palm-uk.co.uk

When tracking medication, the context matters too. Note timing, food, sleep, stress, and side effects so the log tells the full story. #MedicationTracking #HealthTracking #PatientAdvocacy #InvisibleIllness

Pain can affect more than the body. It can also bring fear about work, relationships and whether others will understand.

You don’t have to navigate these concerns without support.

The headline reads, “Over time fear associated with pain can grow, especially if that fear is about other issues like losing your job, or people not believing you.” Below it, a concerned woman rests her chin on her hand, with thought bubbles showing worries about losing her job and people not believing her. Hard At Work Resting - a collage incorporating images, hand writing and stitch.

#chronicillness #chronicfatigue #chronicpain #invisibleillness #collage #art #ME/CFS #mecfs #longcovid #fibromyalgia #rheumatoidarthritis #MS

🪡 ✂️ 🖼️ 🛌 😴

A highly detailed collage depicting all kinds of people engaged in all kinds of manual, cerebral and creative work. At the centre is a woman lying down mostly covered in transparent paper stitched in place with blanket stitch around the edges. On this transparent paper, entirely covering it, the phrase ‘hard at work resting’ is repeatedly written in black pen. Black text on a white background says:

This took about two months to create, precisely because I had to rest so much. And I can tell you, forcing myself to lie still and rest was definitely hard work.
So hard that I failed to manage as much of it as needed and fell into a health crash for the next few months.
I'm very thankful I was able to create this intricate collage. Look closely and you'll see all kinds of collaged details, right down to the items in the
wheelbarrow. Oh, and the plain textured paper is a torn up coffee filter, representing how some people boost their energy for working hard and how my body feels when I'm trying to rest through fizzing adrenaline surges.
