The wind ran through Girdle Ness today and birds were seeking respite. A Whimbrel hunkered with Curlews on the rocks. A Ruff, my first of the year, and a Bar-tailed Godwit found the golf course meadow facsimile appealing.

The Buff-breasted Sand was still trotting about on the machair at Allasdale this afternoon, though looking slightly dishevelled in the persistent driving rain. Seems one of the local Lapwings has taken a dislike to it and repeatedly tried to chase it off. #birdingscotland

A long day of birding (Riverside Nature Park and Angus coast).

Personal highlights during the past week have included passing flocks of Pink-footed Geese, the first handful of Yellow-browed Warblers, and this Icterine Warbler today which slightly to my surprise took a liking to our lawn. #BirdingScotland
