Absolutely enormous (yes, they're as big as they look) white mushrooms appeared in the back garden!

Goodnight Bluesky Folks!

My Last Post for Saturday Features a beautiful picture of some scarlet firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea) berries that I Captured on my Canon EOS R50!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #Berries

berries hang vertically in front of a rustic, weathered wooden background.
The small, spherical berries—characteristic of a firethorn (Pyracantha) shrub—are tightly packed along fine brown stems, each featuring a dark brown blossom mark at its center. Deep green leaves frame the fruit from behind, creating a strong color contrast against both the bright berries and the muted grey-brown wood grain.

Let’s do dahlias for #sixonsaturday - stars of the border this time of year as everything else starts to wind down 🙂.
We have: Crazy Love, Skyfall, Honka Fragile, Starburst, Procyon and the gigantic Kelvin Floodlight 😍. #UKGardening #dahlias #dahlialove #bloomscrolling

Another mostly wet week in the northwest so this #SixOnSaturday is wearing its rainy day diamonds (see alt-text for details).

Have an excellent weekend sky-folk 😀🌱

♻️ Before something reaches the recycling bin, could it have another life in the vegetable garden?

From cardboard and yoghurt pots to glass jars and old T-shirts, everyday items can be surprisingly useful. 🌱

Decided to get in early for #SixOnSaturday. Plenty of rain this week and I bought some plants at two local garden nurseries. Plus the Spring Tulips arrived, ready to be planted in pots at the end of October. *Details in Alt text.

From top left, clockwise: one of the last of the purple Hibiscus that have flowered throughout the drought but are now almost done; a newly bought light-lavender coloured Ageratum petiolatum; another new buy - a bright orange-coloured Echinacea Sunmagic
Vintage Ruby in the rain; one of the last roses - Harlow Carr- having a final pink and frilly flourish; the rusty red Acer/Japanese Maple is turning even more autumnal; tiny yellow Potentilla flowers that have also decided to have a last hurrah.

September’s softer side 🤍🌼

Creamy cosmos, buttery yellows and glowing dahlias catch the gentler autumn light beautifully. The garden may be changing, but there’s still plenty of colour to enjoy.

September isn’t quite ready to let go of colour. 🌸

Echinacea, nerines and late-flowering favourites are filling the garden with wonderful shades of pink — while offering valuable autumn food for pollinators.

I was appled this morning, and I was appalled by the weather this afternoon. Soaked, I was, soaked!

I know what I'm doing on Sunday (weather permitting)

Some gorgeous Dahlias. I've no idea of the variety, but they're very impressive.

Good afternoon Bluesky

My afternoon post for this glorious Friday features a beautiful African daisy (Osteospermum) Captured on my iPhone 17 pro!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #mobilephotography

A close-up photograph captures two vibrant African daisies (Osteospermum) blooming among dense, bright green foliage.
Top Bloom: Features pale petals with a delicate light-lavender tint that gradient into a rich purple ring around a deep violet center dotted with yellow pollen.
Bottom Bloom: Displays a deeper pinkish-purple shade with subtle petal striations, centered around a dark core encircled by bright orange stamen tips.
Foliage & Surroundings: Framed by lance-shaped green leaves, with a spent, brown flower head tucked on the upper left and unopened dark buds visible near the top right.

Super proud of the Grosvenor gardening team, who got gold in every garden we entered for #LondonInBloom. But especially honoured that we won Best in Category for Eaton Square and Grosvenor Square. All that hard work has paid off.

Good morning Bluesky Folks!

Yesterday I managed to capture a beautiful picture of a Pink Rose flower growing over a pavement it was Captured on my Canon EOS R50!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

A close-up shot captures a delicate light-pink rose in full bloom, suspended against a dark, softly blurred background.
Main Bloom: The rose features ruffled, paper-thin petals in pale lilac-pink that curl open to reveal a pale yellow center dotted with dark-tipped stamens.
Buds & Stems: Slender, reddish-green stems hold several surrounding flower buds framed by green sepals. A prominent bud at the upper left shows a glimpse of deep pink petals, while smaller, tightly closed buds cluster nearby.
Lighting & Atmosphere: Soft, directional lighting highlights the texture of the petals and foliage, creating a moody, high-contrast look against the shadowy backdrop.

Goodnight Bluesky folks

My final post for Thursday features a beautiful picture of a purpletop vervain flower that I captured on my Canon EOS R50!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

A close-up shot features a vibrant purple flower cluster (Verbena bonariensis) poised atop a slender, dark stem.
Subject: Dozens of tiny, five-petaled violet-purple blossoms form a dense, dome-shaped cluster. Thin, reddish-purple stems branch off internally to support each individual flower.
Background: The backdrop is softly blurred in deep, muted green tones, creating a strong bokeh effect that makes the main subject pop.
Color Contrast: A bright, out-of-focus yellow-orange spot—likely another blossom—sits in the upper-left corner, providing a striking warm contrast to the cool purple hues.
Lighting: Soft natural light illuminates the top of the bloom, highlighting the texture and delicate edges of the individual petals.

Far fewer orb-weaver spiders around than I normally see in my garden at this time of year, smaller than usual too, the opposite of what I expected in early summer 🌱
