🍂 Autumn gardening is about knowing what to leave as much as what to clear.

Fading seedheads, fallen leaves and untidy corners all have their place. A little shelter for wildlife, a little beauty for us. 🌿

The roses have been so good this year. Early October and they’re still flowering.

Happy Saturday 🌞

C is for Compost.

I have no room for a compost heap, so I do seem to get through a ton of compost each year. I have no real preference to brand but the two I use the most are:

It was a bit chilly getting into the ponds today, but needs must when there’s still blanket weed and leaves to remove. Also took the opportunity to cut back the old leaves of the Swamp Marigolds (Caltha palustris).

The start of Autumn at #GrosvenorSquare means keeping top of the leaves across the garden. Whilst most of the leaves are left on the beds, paths and lawns are kept clear.

Happy Friday 🌞

B is for Begonias.

I have two varieties in my garden:

Picotee Sunburst & Red Bronze Leaf.

Both have amazing colour & have given loads of blooms this year.

Do you grow Begonias? What variety do you like?

Happy Gardening everyone 🇬🇧🌱

I was asked to help judge the borough council’s allotments contest. At the awards ceremony we heard from Cheltenham Action for Nature about work to protect and boost nature.
As gardeners we are all custodians of the soil and gardens and allotments in towns are vital.

Happy Thursday 🌞

I am doing this for a bit of fun, now that the garden is slowing down.

One letter per day, one thing to be found in your garden.

Today is the letter A, which can only mean one thing in my garden...Alliums.
