There was a bad smell in the garden yesterday and I was about to blame the bins but then I realised this Arum pictum had started flowering. The flies were loving it #arum #aroids #GardensHour #plantsky #gardensky

@gardenshour.bsky.socialThanks all for welcoming October to the garden #GardensHour
Many of us seem to still be enjoying late season colour, but everyone is preparing for the change in temperatures, and it seems a few are getting ready for a bulb frenzy!
Next week, bulbs and looking ahead π

@gardenopus.bsky.socialπ±Good Evening All at #GardensHour, advice to myself is to not get a false sense of security about our mild October.π Average killing frost in DuPage county, W. Chicagoland burbs, is October 15th. Must plan for houseplants in & harvest under control, to avoid a November panic.π±

@shadowswhiskers.bsky.social#GardensHour I planted a packet of sunflower seeds in this flower bed in early Spring and this is the only one that survived and it only started blooming in October.
@rickmartin.bsky.socialI grew a very similar looking dark foliage one from tuber this year and that was very late flowering too. You should get one of those plastic pop up greenhouses, real game changer for growing stuff from seed, makes it so much easier #GardensHour
