A few more shots of the Osprey that briefly visited the Phil Stead hide this morning at RSPB Salholme. #NEbirding

A smart Merlin at Saltholme Pools hide today afternoon. Baird’s Sandpiper was showing on/off at the far side of Back Saltholme Pool but giving scope views only - it was much too distant for my camera. #NEbirding @teesbirds.bsky.social 🪶

Moulting juv Spotted Redshank roosting on the foreshore @ SMI this morning before relocating to the nearby wetland and still present this evening. A bit of a local rarity these days. #NEbirding

Pectoral Sandpiper, Druridge

Morning visits not ideal for this scarce wader as viewing from the south facing hide is against harsh light. Still, nice to see.

Little change over the week: six Spotted Redshanks and the Curlew Sandpiper still present today, plus an Osprey through and the first two returning Barnacle Geese #BudleBay #NEbirding

Eclipse drake wigeon on Tynemouth Boating Lake this morning. A great bird for the boating lake but disappointing, given it's mid-September, that wigeon is the best bird of the day. Will this run of westerlies ever end...? #nebirding #patchbirding

A steady movement of Pink-footed Geese at Newton this morning, with flocks heading south at high altitude. Other migrants - Chaffinch in off the sea, 2 Grey Wagtails and a few Meadow Pipits south. Little change at Newton Pool, 22 Black-tailed Godwits + 12 Snipe.

Lapland Bunting showing well at Longhoughton Steel last night, a very welcome yeartick - not an easy bird to catch up with in the county these days. #NEBirding #UKBirding

It's felt a bit stagnant at Low Newton this last week or so, constant westerlies with just a few waders trickling through. This morning at Newton Pool was just the same as the previous few days, loadsa ducks, 22 Black-tailed Godwits, 6 Snipe and 4 Redshank.
