Plants are weird moment of the day: Viburnum ‘Lil Ditty’ bloomed as expected in early May, set a few fruit #birds eagerly ate in August before even ripening past pink, & seems to be blooming again now. Has anyone else had this happen?

Another big beautiful bowl of #homegrown blackberries. The garden angel on one shoulder says share them with my family. The evil twins on the other side say eat them until your fingers are purple or start a bidding war… 🤪

Planted #NativePlants Phyla lanceolata (Fogfruit) years ago in more shade than it likes because that is where I had a moist low spot. Did OK but was starting to peter out so I transplanted what remained to sun—happy again!

Been outside in garden so much lately I have met new bugs every day. This Corn Earworm Moth, who has an amazing fuzzy upper body, is supposedly nocturnal but have been out feeding on Sedum & Phlox.

Laboring in garden yesterday was alive with #nature. Not just this Monarch boi & native bumble, but an army of #birds, #invertebrates, & #mammals. We saw Woodpeckers & Cardinals, heard Chickadees & Kestrels, & so many cool bugs!

You know it’s September when #NativePlanrs Gentiana andrewsii (Bottle Gentian) appears. Flowers don’t “open” so soon there will be bumblebee butts wiggling through the top to get pollen inside.
