This is a dramatic black-and-white photograph of the Grand Auditorium of the Law Courts in Dublin, Ireland, looking across the interior towards a sweeping semicircular wall.

The grand space is dominated by tall, fluted classical columns, each topped with ornate Corinthian capitals.

Between the columns are massive walls built from rectangular blocks of stone, with several arched doorways and entrances set into them. A traditional round clock hangs high on the wall towards the left of centre.

Above, the architecture curves upwards into an impressive domed ceiling. Large rectangular windows allow daylight to enter, illuminating the elaborate plasterwork, recessed panels and decorative mouldings.

The monochrome treatment emphasises the contrast between the bright columns and windows and the darker stonework.

The foreground is particularly striking. The polished floor is decorated with an elaborate geometric pattern of sweeping, overlapping curves and petal-like shapes, radiating from a central point.

Reflections of the architecture shimmer across its glossy surface. The photograph captures the scale, symmetry and grandeur of the auditorium, with the curving architecture and patterned floor drawing the eye into the centre of this imposing historic interior.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ Welcome to another one of Fi’s art pieces that is currently under creation which has a special meaning (more in the Alt) Have a lovely day friends ☺️ #ECK #ArtYear

This is painting done by my wife Fi that has special meaning. This will be given to her Mum who suffers with dementia (even though we see it here unfinished)

This painting is designed with all her favourite colours and with flowers she enjoys in hopes to stimulate memories and provide a calming feeling.

It is also done with the premise that Fi’s Mum will remember that Fi is a talented artist and has many of her paintings in the family home.

And now the picture description today:

This is a vertical acrylic painting of a colourful, stylised flower garden on canvas.

The background transitions from a very pale blush pink at the top to a deeper, dusky lavender and purple towards the bottom, creating the impression of a soft, hazy atmosphere.

Across the entire canvas are numerous hand-painted flowers resembling roses, made from layered circular brushstrokes.

The flowers vary in size and colour, including deep burgundy, wine red, dark plum, dusty pink, mauve, and creamy white.

Some are large and prominent, while others are smaller and scattered throughout the composition.

The flowers are surrounded by thin, flowing stems in purple and green. Between them are clusters of simple, round leaves or decorative dots in shades of emerald green, teal, purple and burgundy.

The stems curve and intertwine, giving the painting a lively, organic quality.

The upper portion is relatively open, with flowers concentrated more heavily along the left and right edges, while the centre gradually fills with blooms.

The lower half becomes increasingly dense, with flowers and foliage layered across the purple background.

The effect is whimsical, expressive and contemporary, with deliberately visible brushwork giving each flower a tactile, handmade character.

The limited palette of pinks, purples, burgundy, green and cream creates a gentle but richly colourful garden scene.

Finally our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our photograph looks out across a wide, empty beach at Greystones on the east coast of Ireland during winter.

The foreground is a broad expanse of dark, wet sand, scattered with countless small stones, shells and fragments of natural debris.

Several thin lines of white foam stretch diagonally across the sand where the sea has recently washed ashore.

Beyond them, the water is restless, with successive waves rolling towards the beach, their crests breaking into streaks of white.

On the horizon, two dark rocky landforms emerge from the sea: a small, isolated rocky outcrop towards the left, and a longer, low headland extending in from the right.

The sky dominates the upper half of the image. Heavy layers of dark grey and blue-grey storm clouds hang low over the water, while patches of pale, muted light break through the cloud cover towards the upper right.

The subdued brown, grey and green tones give the scene a cold, atmospheric winter character.

There are no people or buildings visible, leaving the beach feeling quiet and exposed.

The combination of retreating foam, choppy water, distant rocky silhouettes and dramatic winter clouds creates a sense of solitude and raw coastal beauty.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our picture today is a tranquil waterside scene at sunset. In the foreground, tall reeds and grasses form a dark, textured silhouette along the bottom edge of the image.

Beyond them lies a broad, calm stretch of water, its surface gently rippled. Near the centre, the reflection of the setting sun creates a long, shimmering trail of warm golden and pink light across the water.

A couple of small waterbirds can be seen as dark silhouettes floating on the surface.

On the far bank, a line of trees and low vegetation appears almost entirely in silhouette, creating a dark horizon against the evening sky.

The sky dominates the upper half of the photograph. Heavy, layered clouds stretch across it in sweeping bands of deep blue-grey and muted pink.

Low on the horizon, the sun glows intensely through a break in the clouds, appearing as a bright white-gold orb surrounded by soft orange and rose-coloured light.

The atmosphere is quiet and reflective, with the contrast between the dark landscape, dramatic cloud cover and glowing sunlight creating a sense of peacefulness at the close of day.

And finally, today’s picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

After today’s picture description, l have written a poem about my capture.

A tall wooden sailing ship sits moored in a harbour beneath a dramatic, storm-filled sky.

The vessel dominates the foreground, with two towering masts rising towards the clouds, surrounded by a complex web of ropes, rigging and rope ladders.

Its long bowsprit stretches diagonally across the left side of the image, with netting hanging beneath it.

The hull is dark, edged with warm ochre-yellow trim, while a cream-coloured canvas covers part of the deck. The name Jumellen is visible on the side of the ship.

Behind it, other boats rest on choppy, blue-grey water. Along the distant shoreline are dark buildings and trees, silhouetted against the sky.

Heavy charcoal clouds fill most of the scene, but breaks in the clouds allow brilliant shafts of pale light and glowing orange sunlight to reach the horizon.

The contrast between the threatening darkness and the golden light gives the photograph a powerful, cinematic atmosphere, as though the ship is preparing to sail through a storm.

And finally, those picture is for this with a white border frame. And now for my poem..

I call it …Navigating Life’s Storm

When the sea grows wild
and the sky turns black,
keep your hands upon the wheel
and your eyes upon the horizon.

The waves may rise
and the wind may roar,
while darkness hides the distant shore.

But beyond the storm
there is always the possibility
of calmer waters.

Trust your course.
Hold steady.

Let hope be the light
that guides you through the darkness.

For the journey may be difficult,
the waters may be unforgiving,
but you are stronger
than the storm that surrounds you.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ & welcome back to the beautiful city of Valletta, Malta and these sweeping undulating steps. Have a gorgeous day friends 😌 #ECK
#BlueSkyArtShow #undulating #Malta
#Photography #ClassicMono #Valletta #PhotographyOfBlueSky #StoneSteps #PhotographersOfBlueSky #Historic #Architecture

A dramatic black-and-white photograph captures a sweeping, undulating flight of ancient stone steps in Valletta, Malta, rising steeply between tall, weathered buildings.

The broad staircase dominates the image, its uneven limestone steps stretching from the foreground and narrowing as they climb towards the sky.

Several slender black metal handrails run up the centre and along the sides, following the changing levels of the steps.

On either side, tightly packed historic Maltese buildings rise several storeys high. Their pale limestone façades are heavily textured and worn, with peeling surfaces, shuttered windows, balconies and ornate wrought-iron railings.

On the left, a particularly striking window is protected by a heavy iron grille, while projecting balconies cast deep shadows across the wall.

The architecture seems to lean and overlap above the narrow stairway, creating a powerful sense of enclosure. At the top, the buildings frame a small opening of sky filled with dramatic clouds.

The absence of colour emphasises the contrast between brilliant limestone highlights and deep architectural shadows, giving the scene an atmospheric, almost timeless quality.

The sweeping perspective of the steps draws the eye upward, making the staircase feel like a journey through Valletta’s layered history, each worn stone and weathered wall telling its own story.

And finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our photograph captures a tranquil autumn clearing in an Irish forest, with warm, earthy colours stretching from the foreground to the distant hills.

In the foreground, a thick carpet of rust-brown bracken and ferns covers the woodland floor.

Their delicate fronds overlap one another, creating layers of texture, while a narrow, natural-looking path winds through the vegetation towards the clearing.

Tall mature trees frame the scene on both sides, their branches extending overhead like a natural canopy.

Their leaves have begun to turn shades of brown, bronze and muted gold, with some remaining green. Smaller branches and leaves silhouette against the pale, overcast sky above.

Beyond the trees is an open clearing leading to a calm lake or reservoir, its silvery surface catching the subdued autumn light.

Across the water, golden-brown grasses and scattered trees lead towards a darker band of woodland.

In the distance, a gently rounded Irish hillside rises above the forest. Its upper slopes are covered in muted green and deep reddish-brown vegetation, characteristic of the changing season.

The overall scene has a quiet, atmospheric and almost timeless quality. The rich autumn browns of the bracken, the soft greens of the woodland, the reflective water and the distant hills combine.

They create the feeling of standing in a secluded corner of the Irish countryside, looking out through the trees towards the wider landscape.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

#BlueSkyStories

After today’s picture description, I’ve written a short story for this capture.

Our photograph shows a beautifully landscaped formal garden on an autumn day. A wide, reddish gravel or paved pathway stretches from the foreground into the distance.

On either side are carefully maintained lawns, rounded ornamental shrubs and numerous mature trees displaying rich autumn colours of gold, copper, russet and deep green.

In the foreground on the left stands an elegant stone statue of a young, robed figure. The figure appears to be reading from an open book, looking down towards the pages. The statue stands on an ornate, weathered pedestal decorated with carved details.

Above the garden is a dramatic sky of turquoise-blue and grey, filled with large, soft clouds. Sunlight falls warmly across the pathway and lawns. Finally our pictures is finished with a white border frame. And now for my story..

I call it…The Statue That Read the Gardens

They said the statue had stood there for generations, always with its book open.

Nobody knew what the words on its pages said. Visitors tried to lean closer, but the writing was too worn by time to read.

One autumn afternoon, a young girl named Sabine wandered into the gardens.

As she passed, she noticed something strange: the statue’s stone eyes seemed to be following the changing leaves.

She stopped.

“What are you reading?” she whispered.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then a golden leaf drifted from the great tree overhead and landed upon the statue’s book.

Sabine looked down.

The pages had changed.

There, written in delicate letters, was a single sentence:

“I am reading the stories written by the garden.”

From that day onward, Sabine returned every autumn.

She never saw the words again but she began to notice things she had once overlooked.

Birdsong among the branches, sunlight moving across the path, and the quiet stories told by every falling leaf.

And the statue remained there, patiently reading.

Our photograph shows two colourful acrylic paintings, displayed side by side in matching white, deep-set frames.

Each painting portrays a stylised Black woman from the shoulders upward, with her eyes closed and her face turned slightly to the side.

Their hairstyles are the most striking feature: their hair is decorated with dozens of brightly coloured, circular patterns resembling beads or flowers, creating elaborate halos around their heads.

The woman on the left is shown in profile, facing right. She wears a lime-green headwrap, turquoise eye shadow, vivid pink lipstick, large gold earrings, and several layered gold necklaces.

The woman on the right faces slightly left and wears a turquoise headwrap, with similarly vibrant turquoise eye shadow, pink lipstick, large gold hoop earrings, and layered gold necklaces.

Both paintings use bold black outlines and intense, contrasting colours. Behind each woman is a dramatic sunset-like background, transitioning from deep red at the top through orange to brilliant yellow near the bottom.

The two works have a joyful, vibrant and celebratory character, with the intricate circular hair decorations providing a strong sense of rhythm and movement.

The matching white frames create a clean contrast against the vivid artwork.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our tranquil coastal scene stretches beneath a vast, cloudless blue sky. The photograph is composed vertically, with the horizon positioned low in the frame, giving the sky a strong sense of openness and scale.

In the foreground, shallow seawater gently washes over a sandy beach. Small, foamy waves curl diagonally from the lower right toward the centre of the image.

The wet sand has a warm golden-brown and slightly pinkish hue, with delicate patterns left behind by the retreating water.

Along the left side, the beach extends into the distance, scattered with numerous small, dark pebbles and stones.

The shoreline curves gently toward a distant point, where a small white structure can just be seen.

The sea occupies the right-hand side, its surface calm and subtly textured, shifting from pale, translucent water near the shore to deeper blue toward the horizon.

The distant horizon is softened by a faint haze, creating an impression of immense space and serenity.

The image conveys quietness, solitude and the timeless rhythm of the sea, with the expansive blue sky contrasting beautifully against the warm tones of the beach.

Finally, today’s picture is finished with a simple white border frame.
