Seems like there's hardly ever a dull moment along the Pacific coast. I caught this moment of the tide leaving remnants of wave action on the sandy beach where the waves withdraw back to sea. Fog drifts down toward the ocean along the river valley also headed toward the sea. I'd never seen the unique marine layer mimicking wave action out near the horizon quite like this before.

Sedimentary rocks form the cliffs and bluffs along the ocean at Montaña De Oro State Park in Los Osos, California. An inlet leads to a cave into the seaside bluff. Layers of different colored and textured rock make up the bluff. Above the cave is more rock, and a few (very small) people are walking the trail which gives one a sense of scale. In the distance is Valencia Peak and light blue sky; there is a little bit of marine mist which mutes the colors.

Its base is a bumpy olive green, the tentacles are a riot of mint green, pale yellow, and magenta. A layer of sand rests in the middle, but the central mouth area is visible, and has stripes radiating out from the center in the same light olive and mint green colors that are on the outside parts.
