Hi guys, there's a hashtag left over from last week at the top of Sabine's P&G graphic. It should surely be #pompandpatterns not #pagesandpalaces ? Might be confusing for peasant minds like mine....

Bookcases and shelves holding a National Trust collection of rare books and manuscripts in the Long Gallery at Blickling Hall, Norfolk. #PalacesAndGardens #PagesAndPalaces #photography #dailyphoto #out&about #Norfolk

A long narrow room with a wide bay window at the far end. The plaster work ceiling is highly decorated and the walls are lined with tall wooden bookcases, low bookshelves and an assortment of chairs. The wooden floor has rugs at intervals along the room, with two yellow sofas either side of the fireplace. People are looking at the bookshelves and the paintings on the walls, or leafing through the books open on small tables.

It is housed in a traditional Lakeland stone building with slate roofing.
Open since 1887, making it one of the oldest independent bookshops in the north of England.
It stocks a wide range of books including local interest books, guides and maps, and the works of the Lake Poets.

Hardly a palace, but instead an outdoor bookstand in Havana, Cuba. It was interesting to see the selection of books, magazines and pamphlets.

Bran Castle (aka Dracula's Castle). There is a library to the left in the photo, complete with a bear rug and cozy reading nook with a small fireplace.

At the far left of the image are dark wooden book shelves dimly lit by a candelabra. Adjacent to the shelves is a large Turkish Middle Eastern Brass Brazier (incense burner) set into a large bowl to catch ashes. The rug is in front of a large white-painted reading nook that has a small wood-burning fireplace and a cushioned bench for sitting/reading. A very large book from a Folger’s Shakespeare Library interactive installation at the National Building Museum in DC (2022) for #PalacesandGardens #PagesandPalaces #EastCoastKin #Shakespeare #MidsummerNightsDream #theater #experienceart #museum

A life-sized book, open to show both pages, with the lines written in script “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women mearly players.” William Shakespeare
“What transforms your state of mind? A bright sunny day? A page-turner of a book? An amazing theater experience? A beautifully designed space? Two of Washington's esteemed private cultural institutions-the
National Building Museum and the Folger Shakespeare Library have come together and transformed the Great Hall to present The Playhouse-a theater that welcomes guests for evening performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and invites visitors to experience a delightful immersive installation, special tours, and hands-on activities during the day.
Theater design affects how audiences observe, or even participate, in the action. Tiered galleries, open yards for "groundlings," stages in the round, or in stark black boxes all change how an audience experiences the performance. The stage here at the Museum was designed specifically for this non-traditional space, using the Great Hall's soaring ceilings, clerestory windows, and rows of columns to create a magical backdrop for A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Even if you're not seeing the play, you can experience being part of it. We invite visitors to step inside these life-sized pages based on Joanna Robsons diminutive double-concertina book from the Folger Shakespeare Library collection,
The Knavish Lad, which
illustrates every scene from the play. We welcome all to act out a scene, perform a play of your own, or simply appreciate the beauty of the artist's work.
