After today’s picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this capture. Our photograph captures a beautiful sunset over the sea on the West Sussex coast in southern England. The brilliant golden sun hangs above the distant horizon, illuminating a vast sky that transitions from warm amber near the water to deep blue-black overhead, with wisps of cloud drifting across the darkness. A shimmering pathway of silver and gold stretches from the sun across the gently rippling sea towards the shore. In the foreground, a coastal promenade and concrete sea defences follow the water's edge, bordered by dark metal railings that cast long, delicate shadows across the ground. A solitary figure sits quietly by the railings, gazing out towards the ocean. The striking contrast between the radiant sky and the shadowed foreground creates an atmosphere of profound stillness, solitude and peaceful reflection. Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. And now for my poem. I call it…Where the World Falls Silent The sun descends into the waiting sea, And the restless world grows quiet. Golden light dances upon the waves, As evening gathers around me. No hurried footsteps, no voices calling, Only the ocean breathing against the shore. The horizon holds the last of the daylight, And asks nothing of me anymore. Here, beneath the endless sky, My thoughts drift gently with the tide. For serenity is not the absence of storms, But finding somewhere peaceful inside. And as the final light fades away, I let the day's burdens disappear, Resting in the quiet embrace of the sea, Grateful simply to be here.

After today’s picture description l have written a short horror tale for my capture. Our black-and-white photograph captures a quiet, shadowy forest. Two prominent tree trunks stand in the foreground, their branches reaching upward into a dense canopy. Ivy climbs around the base of the tree on the left. In the distance, the woodland fades into deep shadows and blurred foliage. Bright sunlight streams through the trees on the upper right, creating a striking contrast between light and darkness and giving the scene an eerie, mysterious atmosphere Finally, our picture today is finished with a white border frame. And now for my story. I call it… “The Forest That Remembered” They called it the Whispering Wood, a forest where no one dared to walk after sunset. One autumn evening, a young man named Daniel ignored the warnings. As he followed the narrow path between the trees, the forest grew strangely silent. Even the wind seemed to disappear. Then he heard footsteps behind him. He turned. Nothing. He walked faster. The footsteps followed. At last, he reached an old tree split into two enormous branches. Moonlight, (or so he thought) , filtered through the canopy. Beneath the tree stood the faint outline of a woman in an old fashioned dress. “Why have you come?” she whispered. Daniel could barely speak. “I was looking for the way out.” The woman pointed deeper into the forest. “Then you must remember the way in.” Suddenly, the trees seemed to shift around him. Every path looked unfamiliar. The woman smiled sadly. “Everyone who enters leaves something behind.” Daniel closed his eyes and remembered the path he had taken. When he opened them, the woman was gone, and sunlight was breaking through the branches. He ran towards it. Years later, Daniel would sometimes wake in the night convinced he could hear footsteps outside his window. And somewhere in the darkness, the forest was still whispering his name.

Our photograph shows the impressive Killashee Hotel in Naas, County Kildare, Ireland, viewed from its landscaped front courtyard on a bright, clear day. The historic Victorian building has an ornate, symmetrical appearance, with warm olive-green rendered walls contrasting with cream-coloured stone detailing around the windows, corners and architectural features. On the left is a tall, prominent bell tower, topped by a distinctive curved, dark slate roof and a small weather vane. Beneath the roof are two large arched openings containing the bells. Across the main façade are numerous tall windows, many framed with elaborate decorative stonework. Geometric strips of dark and pale paving cross the courtyard, creating strong lines leading towards the hotel. Carefully maintained hedges and lawns frame the edges. Above the building is a vivid, almost cloudless deep-blue sky, providing a striking backdrop to the ornate architecture. The photograph captures Killashee Hotel as a grand and elegant historic Irish country house, combining Victorian architecture with beautifully maintained grounds. Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our photograph shows the side of an old, imposing church or chapel, viewed from a low angle beneath a deep blue sky. The warm, weathered stone and rough reddish-brown exterior walls are dramatically illuminated by sunlight, while parts of the building fall into deep shadow. The most striking feature is the large arched window on the right. It is framed by pale, weathered stone and filled with an intricate white-painted lattice of small diamond-shaped panes. The delicate framework contrasts beautifully with the heavy, ancient masonry surrounding it. A second, narrower arched window appears further along the wall, also featuring white latticework.
