I sincerely l hope the contractor just installed the wrong sign. ๐Ÿชง

This should be a similar campaign for trusting planners and engineers to design safer streets for all road users as well!

@safestreetsto.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 4:23 PM

So what the Province is saying is effectively they are ok if more people die, just so they can get votes by a red-herring argument about reducing traffic.

@safestreetsto.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 4:23 PM

People who are NOT seriously injured or killed don't have to become statistics because the infrastructure saved them. We can't count or name people who were saved...โ˜ ๏ธ Removing bike lanes is condemning 'future victims' to life altering injuries or death, and will impact dozens of families & friends.

@safestreetsto.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 6:17 PM

Yah, that is a good suggestion but alas they are not the same kind of data, one is raw time, and the other is a ratio of two different times (PM Peak vs Overnight). So best we could do is put both charts on same page in report...so folks can see the correlation...

STOP THE BIKE LANE REMOVAL NOW - OR IT WILL JUST BE THE BEGINNING...

BREAKING: New City data shows #RoadSafety changes on #BloorStreet West are working!
1. 75% fewer serious injuries & deaths
2. Less speeding
3. Only 25-60 seconds delay per km
4. Delays are down since 2024!
5. Over 150% more people cycling

Never forget, when it comes to whether or not a collision happens, and whether or not someone is killed or injured, speed is ALWAYS a factor. #UrbanTruth #SpeedKills

Background shows a collision involving cars and drivers. Texting quotes says โ€œspeed wasnโ€™t a factorโ€ which is what police and media often say when someone wasnโ€™t obviously speeding, even when the speed limit is too high. Bottom tag line says โ€œSpeed is always a factor.โ€ Via the Urban Truth Collective.

Honoured to witness the powerful uprising of over 600 doctors & health care workers fighting to keep bike lanes on Bloor, University & Yonge. #BikeTo #ToPoli

"Want to know how many people are biking at nearly any intersection in the City of Toronto & how flows have changed over time?

Here is a nifty new free/public tool where you can click & compare bike counts and trends at any location over the past 20+ years!" - @safestreetsto.bsky.social #OpenData

Want to know how many people are biking at nearly any intersection in the City of Toronto AND how flows have changed over time? Traditional bike counters are limited, but there is another way.

Multi-modal Turning Movement Counts (TMCs) have been available on #OpenData some time, but the .csv tables are highly complex so it's hard to combine and compare counts over time ... but not any more...

Here is a nifty new free/public tool where you can click and compare bike counts and trends at any location over the past 20+ years!

TIP: If you click the pink 'bikes' mode in legend under the map you can filter the charts to show only bike counts over time such as this example for Bloor and Bay. You can also subset the data for peak hours only which gives you a way to compare older 8-hour counts along with more recent 14-hr counts.

TRY IT HERE: https://t.co/azej9LuStd

Big Thanks to Isaac Berman for his public service in creating these tools! Check out his bike share counts, and many other dashboards on his 'hobby' website: https://lnkd.in/gVUb8FXwToronto Intersection Counts

Horary! @observingthecity.ca strikes again with another brilliant visualization tool to help transportation planners do better work more quickly.

Bloor Street #RoadSafety upgrades help everyone stay alive! #BikeLanes are part of a #SafeStreetSystem:

This lovely old couple can now cross 2-lanes of traffic.

This is a very effective presentation on turning movement count (TMC) #opendata that is publicly available on the Toronto website. More of this type of data daylighting is needed on corridors under threat by #bill212! (Hint: pattern looks similar!) #biketo

Are you attending #OBS2026 today? At 1:45 come listen to me & some great panel members talk about using data & compelling storytelling to:

A. Justify new road safety & cycling projects; and

B. Defend the new projects when (inevitable?) opposition to change emerges, & objective facts are needed.

@safestreetsto.bsky.socialSep 23, 2026, 3:27 PM

Panel up now includes Barbara Gray and many other elected municipal officials from Guelph, Waterloo, Collingwood. All agree need to focus on affordability as a key goal for building support for active transportation, also need to play nice and lobby respectfully for win-win solutions. #OBS2026
