@kim_harding there's no mention of any "safe" conversion kits for #eBikes there, so I'm sure they mean any non-proprietary battery without vendor lock-in tech, or controllers with #openSource code. #right2repair #transportForLondon
The "Ranked Choice" branding distracts people with the "yeah I could have a 1st and 2nd choice" but then glosses over the tedious iterative counting method and exhausted ballots, because that would be "confusing". The discounting of your non-1st votes when it gets actually counted betrays voters […]
IRV has suffered a lot of "two steps back", which seems to be the goal of their main funders and boosters, if you listen to how disingenuously they engage with discussions about any better alternatives. Their proposal would require easily-corruptible central tabulation but the criticism of STAR […]
Drill out your gravel bike's internal cable routing and run full-length housing to the rear shifter.
@NNN rim width? (70% of the tire width inside the flange?) https://sheldonbrown.com/tyre-sizing.html#history
@wjmaggos they gloss over what happens to your 2nd/3rd choice votes when those candidates are eliminated before your 1st. The difference in that final few rounds is you end up losing if people didn't get on the same page as their friends about which order to vote in. It doesn't have to be that […]
@enobacon Shoulder?! In Massachusetts that’s at least three lanes.
WTF do Boston drivers still pass on the shoulder into an aggressively forced merge like this? (45s in)
Perfectly reasonable and logical city planning getting trampled by provincial "one more lane" nonsense needs to be met with more population in cities and metro areas, with more representative voting methods so people can have nuanced discussions but still work together. Bikes are the biggest […]
get out of your cars and learn to vote better challenge
@qagggy.bsky.social I visited Los Angeles for the first time recently. Only saw a little fraction of the city, but found myself frequently wondering “why the hell is this road so wide?” This intersection reminds me of LA.
The American Dream—buying a house in the suburbs and watching it increase in value to the point where subsequent generations need to move farther and farther out to obtain the same thing at a comparable price, but with an even more soul-crushing commute—was always a Ponzi scheme.
Unfortunately, @transportation.seattle.gov needs to face up to the fact that, if it wants to achieve Vision Zero, we can't have multi-lane streets anymore. One in each direction, plus a bus lane, is the maximum that can be made safe.
The "Party of Reagan" has the United States siding with Russian aggression against NATO allies and a brutal war on a European democratic US partner. Yes, the whole party. If they didn't, they would impeach and remove the president who is blatantly breaking US law to help fund Russia's war effort.
holy warriors don't go to church, they just need to believe they're righteous, nevermind the pesky loving thy neighbor details too many useful idiots
@Andres4NY and I'm guessing they use a lot of oil
sign says "cyclists dismount" 🤔 but I'm a software developer, not a cyclist
need some #trafficEngineers to check on that paint and those signs, sunday drivers are having trouble following the design several times in one short ride
drivers stay farther behind the #BikeBus when the sweep has a bubble machine going 😆 bcs they don't want soap on the precious's windshield
The #allWayWalk / bike phase allows people to cross in all directions, each time the cars are stopped. Bikes are not cars 🤯 so it's easy to look, nod, turn, slow, or speed up slightly, and there are no blind spots created by large vehicles, except maybe #cargoBikes 😉 #Groningen
