I recently returned my "classic" 1990 touring bike to 27" wheels, and the Schwalbe Green Marathon 27"x1&1/4" tires were *panic-inducing* today whenever I made 90-degree turns. It felt like they were going to squirm right off the wheel. I'm used to 700Cx28mm Panaracer RiBiMo tires, which are […]

I did a likely "farewell to summer" bike ride today, mostly the #Minneapolis Greenway/South Cedar Lake Trail, plus North Cedar Lake Trail and River Road.

Park drinking fountains confirmed off (boo, hiss), but I was prepared and brought 1.5L water.

Anybody notice a recent change to #Apple iMessage and #RCS?

I have a SMS/MMS phone (not google, not apple). In a chat with two iPhone users, I am.not receiving messages either of them send, but they see messages I send.

I looked at the Mac of one of them: when they start sending to me, the […]

I'd like to try "not ChromeOS" on this Chromebook Lenovo IdeaPad 10.1 CT-X636F . It's a Mediatek Kompanio 2ghz per diagnostics.. ARM64, not Intel.

Any suggestions? PostmarketOS? Linux?

I see some stuff for Ideapad 10.1 at […]

Did you know?
#MetroTransitMN sells a $4 all-day pass? Awesome value if visiting MSP!

Sometimes I take the bus before & after work, then home from an event. The $4 fare is the cheapest, even if I just *might* stop somewhere after work.

Buy it at a BRT/LRT stop, or using the phone app:

@paige
I was watching Paige Saunders' newest video (about election reform), and my browser popped-up "video.canadiancivil.com wants to access other devices on your network"

What the heck?

I was on the LRT train yesterday with my "Harley Davidson Serial1" step-thru class-1 (no throttle) ebike, and a guy with head-to-toe Harley clothes approved :) He claimed that I would be welcome at Sturgis on it

Budget coffee:

Bustelo in Aeropress has been my go-to cheap coffee for a few years.

Target's website (incorrectly) claimed the price was up from $6.50 to $12.50, so I went looking at Aldi

and found some knock-off Bustelo (how is that even a thing?) about […]

@moira
We switched our electricity to Time of Day pricing, and now I can run electric space heaters from 9pm-9am +weekends at about the same price as gas.

That should cut our gas use by >70% this winter.

(yes, still looking at mini splits, but $$$, and this stop-gap measure took 1 phone call […]

Rhinowalk 20L panniers: the plastic backplate broke. Maybe from too much weight, potholes & speed. And 10 years of commutes.

I'm trying to decide if I should drill out the 9 rivets, replace plastic board with a $3 cutting board, and re-rivet .

Going through my camera bag from 1991, which I'd like to use on an "unplugged" bike camping trip.. I have some unused Scotch and Target brand(!) 400 speed film.

And a canister marked "LEAK! 36exp.", which I expect means it's black-and-white, and the […]
