Garden wildlife. Last night the Zoropsis spinimana on the outside of the shed was feeding on something - difficult to ID, though it did appear to be one of the Anyphaena numidas that are also out and about on the shed at the moment, and likely passing quite close to each other. #Britishspiders

Garden wildlife. An Anyphaena numida found on the kitchen ceiling this morning. Very sprightly once caught, and even when in the pint glass it was photographed in it was able to scale the sides effortlessly. Released on the shed where there are others. @britishspiders.bsky.social #londonwildlife

A smallish pale yellow to reddish brown spider, with darker markings.

#Arachtober day 11 is K. Has to be Kryptonesticus eremita a spider local to me. First recorded in the UK 2017. Found in a cave on Flat Holm in the Bristol Channel and the easiest way to see it. Another option is to take a look in the sewers of Penarth! @britishspiders.bsky.social @sewbrec.org.uk

Garden wildlife. A lovely Zoropsis spinimana on the shed last night. Possibly my favourite spider, and one I've seen fairly regularly here over the last few years. And a second one was inside the shed too - only underside views of that one, but they're quite distinctive! @britishspiders.bsky.social

A fairly substantial pale brown spider with quite distinctive darker markings. It's on a garden shed.A fairly substantial pale brown spider with darker markings. This is an underside view of a different spider to that in the previous photo, and it's inside the window of a garden shed.

I for instar #Arachtober as I don't have any 'I' spiders (maybe @tylanberry.bsky.social @chalkspring.bsky.social etc?) Instar is any stage in the development between moults. The instar immediately before maturity is described as being subadult. Some spiders have a set amount, others are variable.

Great to see the little eyes peering through the mass of legs in the first photo

I've been trying to get a video of this all week... she's on the outside of my conservatory door, but the video is from the inside where I can see her tucked away by her large Orb web.
I love the feather decoration ๐Ÿ˜

3 days running, this spider put a main thread on my garden swing cover, which I tried to move... disaster. So I put up a couple of my own string lines and YAY, she used that to secure her web, so now we can both happily sit on the swing again ๐Ÿ˜

Cyclosa conica is still fairly easy to find in wooded areas . I hope plenty of them survive the winter and reach adulthood. Here are some of the ones I've found recently. @britishspiders.bsky.social

Dysdera, the woodlouse spiders. #Aractober. Also know as the Baked Bean spider ๐Ÿ˜D.erythrina and D.crocata, the one you will most likely come across. The large chelicerae and bright orange/red colour make them very distinctive. @britishspiders.bsky.social
