Today, Lifeboat Saturday, I’d like to pay tribute to the many brave men and women who volunteer for the #RNLI, risking their lives to save others in grave danger.

I’m appalled at the abuse and intimidation faced by RNLI crews in recent weeks.

Let’s support and celebrate this incredible charity.

šŸ‘‡šŸ½NB Helpful analysis and advice on the current Covid situation from @buds-disability.bsky.social. Remember that having Covid may bring long-term complications. And the data is that 50% of those with Long Covid develop ME-like symptoms.

So, be wise, be Covid cautious. 😷

Lovely to join local residents at Manor Hall, Lympsham for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing this weekend. Thought provoking, lots of questions and thank you for the cake!

I welcome the decision to scrap plans to curb jury trials. Trial by jury is a fundamental safeguard in our justice system. Victims deserve timely justice, but weakening the right to a jury trial is not the answer. The Government must now focus on investing in our courts to bring down delays.

A really good question @cabruce.bsky.social, thank you for helping to spell out some criteria.

Thanks @thereforme.bsky.social! There must be serious review of the government’s inadequate response to #ME, with its cost to us all. Still considering best options to call for including @georgemonbiot.bsky.social proposed public inquiry, Select Committee Inquiry, a Czar or even referral to HSSIB.

This week, Window 2 of the Sustainable Farming Incentive 26 Scheme opened. The £233 million pot had gone within 6 hours. Countless farmers who were ready to apply were locked out of the system. A lifeline for so many became a lottery. It's devastating. The Government must sort this urgently.

Thank you so much, George! Your conclusion speaks volumes, reflecting so much that I hear from #pwME.

Fab to join @sascampaigns.bsky.social and the @mcsuk.bsky.social on Brighton beach yesterday morning. It was good to catch up too with Giles Bristow, CEO of Surfers Against Sewage, to hear more about their work to protect our coastlines and marine life.

Great to be at the LibDem Party Conference! I’ve attended for many years and always look forward to hearing from campaigners and activists, and seeing friends from across the West Country and beyond. I love being part of a unique and distinctive culture where all policy is voted on by members.

Women are suffering horrific injuries and dying in childbirth. This national scandal cannot continue. This week, we’ll force a vote in Parliament to demand safer maternity care for every mum. Britain must be the safest place to have a baby.

Too many #pwME tell me of NHS services where there is no accommodation for their ME related needs, and engagement sets them back rather than helping. I’ve written to minister Karin Smyth MP asking that the new Single Patient Record includes information on such needs - a sensible low cost measure

@tessamunt.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 11:20 AM

To continue to put on the pressure, I’ve tabled three new amendments for next week’s Report stage of the Health Bill. Each asks the government to have regard to the needs of persons with long-term, complex or fluctuating conditions - #pwME šŸ‘‡šŸ½

Thanks to @actionforme.bsky.social for help with these.

As a start I’ve identified 5 areas, for initial confidence boosting: 1. Getting better numbers 2. Understanding the economic cost 3. Research to develop diagnostics and treatment 4. Changing detrimental attitudes, knowledge and practice 5. Providing a national specialist service for very severe ME

We are all paying for failure over successive governments to acknowledge the needs of all those affected by ME. It’s time for a fresh start, with investment to address their needs, to enable them to lead healthier lives and make the contributions to our country that they have dreamt of for so long.

Congrats to James Frith MP, newly appointed as the Minister for Health Innovation, with responsibility for ME. I’ve written to him on ME emphasising that given the numbers, and the length and extent of suffering, ME represents a significant burden at personal level, to society and to our economy.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to such a powerful account. @andyburnham.bsky.social spoke of govt investing in people’s success rather than paying for failure. A year on from #DecodeME results it’s time for serious investment in the research to address the cost to us all of #SevereME.

Ahead of #SevereMEDay, we are launching the Severe ME Inquiry Report, exposing systemic failings in care, support and education for people with severe and very severe ME. Read today: www.actionforme.org.uk/the-more-ill... #MECFS #pwME #MyalgicE #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #SevereME #VerySevereME

šŸ‘‡šŸ½Delighted that my amendment to the Health Bill was debated in the Bill Committee, highlighting the poor and patchy implementation of NG206 guidance on ME five years on from adoption. We must see this hard earned achievement implemented properly. Thank you @meassociation.org.uk for sharing this.

Tessa Munt MP tabled an amendment, which was debated but has since been withdrawn, to the government's health bill which would have required that a period must be set within which the NICE guideline on ME/CFS must be complied with by ICBs.Ā  https://meassociation.org.uk/hzf4 #MECFS

meassociation.org.ukNICE guideline on ME/CFS: MPs discuss the failure of ICBs (integrated care boards) to implement NICE guideline recommendations Ā  - The ME AssociationTessa Munt, MP, has chaired an amendment to the government's health bill, calling for ICBs to comply with the NICE Guideline on ME/CFS.

Five years after publication of the NICE guidance on ME - NG206 - implementation is still poor. My amendment to the Health Bill highlights this, requiring that a period be set for compliance and that the Health Secretary publish an annual statement. šŸ™šŸ½ @actionforme.bsky.social for helpful advice.
