Gatekeeping & short-termism. Under the Equalities Act you only get support if you have a recognised issue. Stop the issue being recognised & you don’t get funded help. On a macro scale this damages lives and ultimately the economy but we run on 4 to 5 year plans so help isn’t not politically viable.

Oh for fucksake. There must be hundreds of thousands of us out there who are absolutely on the spectrum but NOT diagnosed. I realised I was autistic maybe fifteen years ago. I’m retired so formal diagnosis has little relevance for me now but it would have helped fifty years ago.
