Because of the timing of the Swalwell implosion (well before the primary election) and the fact that it was in a very blue state and not the senate, it was lower stakes politically but in another context would have been a complete catastrophe.

I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.

If you're streaming a movie on one of the big services, it's very likely in Dolby Vision, which overides the motion smoothing setting. You have to hit the settings button on the remote - while the film is playing (don't exit to go settings!) and go to picture - clarity and turn off motion smoothing

I can’t help but note that the last version of this argument was a young @peterbeinart.bsky.social arguing that the progressive coalition has to defeat and marginalize the anti war faction that was opposing the Iraq war.

The thing you need to understand is that there are 2 (TWO) different method for amending the constitution 1) The process laid out in the constititon itself (conventions, or 2/3's of both houses followed by 3/4 of states ratifying) OR 2) find five votes on the Supreme Court.
