Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2026
Grilled Cheese is a social network that respects you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address (used to sign in and for security notices) and the identities, handles, and profiles you create.
- Content you create — posts, replies, reactions, follows, and media you upload. Public content is visible according to the audience you choose.
- Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read their contents.
- Technical data — the IP address and approximate session information needed to keep your account secure and the service running.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
- We strip location metadata (EXIF/GPS) from photos on upload unless you opt out in Settings.
Your controls
You can edit or delete your content, control who can see and mention you, download a copy of your data, deactivate your account temporarily, or delete it permanently — all from Settings. You can enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.
Federation
Grilled Cheese is part of a federated network (ActivityPub and the AT Protocol). If you enable federation, your public content may be delivered to and stored by other servers you interact with. Those servers have their own policies.
