Emberiza calandra is only found in just over 10% of Sussex tetrads and it is a Red-listed bird but still around (this one at #BirlingGap), Once known as the Common Bunting (Bunting being a name going back hundreds of years) and known for its ‘jangling keys’ song.

A Black-headed Gull keeping a watchful eye on a sleeping Greenshank at #CuckmereHaven at the weekend. In Sussex the wader is a fairly common passage migrant lingering here for snooze and food.
