No decision has been made about which animal will be shown on which banknote, but it's been confirmed the puffin and bees will also feature on coins, as part of the Royal Mint's redesign of 20p and £1 coins. Which animal's note are you most looking forward to getting your hands on first?

👋 Say hello to the stars of your new bank notes! After a public vote which saw over 2.5 million responses, the Bank of England have revealed the Atlantic puffin, barn owl, European hedgehog and buff-tailed bumblebee will appear on redesigned notes over the coming years.

But thanks to the LCF and a public fundraising campaign, we were able to make critical structural repairs and enable the site to open in 2020 for the public, preserving this special place for many years to come.

Built in the 1820s to commemorate the Duke of Wellington’s victory at the Battle of Waterloo, it was closed to the public, with visible structural cracks and failing stone masonry causing sections to break away.

One of the most notable projects supported Wellington Monument, which had an uncertain future back in 2018.

And we are proud to have played our part in this milestone. Over the last three decades, we have successfully fundraised over £9m from the LCF, supporting over 270 projects, helping shape community spaces, heritage sites, and biodiversity initiatives.

Since 1996, a portion of landfill tax is diverted directly into community and environmental projects and the LCF has reshaped the UK’s local infrastructure ever since.

For 30 years, the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) has shown the value of innovative policy to local communities, notably playing a crucial role in saving the much-loved Wellington Monument back in 2018. Here's how...

This former golf course has been turned into a nature reserve 💚 Sandilands is designed to help nature thrive. The reserve is expected to provide important habitat for birds and forms part of the internationally important East Coast Flyway, one of Europe's major migration routes.

As the tree regrows, we will work with partners and local communities to celebrate the tree’s legacy but - for now - the stump has grown a thick ring of new shoots which are two to three feet tall, and we're filled with hope by the way nature is taking its course. Photos: Annapurna Mellor

Today marks three years since the iconic Sycamore Gap tree was illegally felled. We're pleased to bring you new images which reveal how the stump is growing, a sure sign that the tree is in recovery.

This milestone reflects years of dedication from our rangers and volunteers through nest box installations and habitat management. These protected birds are now benefiting from the park's thriving grasslands, which provide plenty of field voles for hungry, growing chicks.

We have something very cute to share with you today 🦉 This summer, a pair of barn owls successfully reared four owlets at Kedleston Hall, marking Kedleston's first known breeding success in over two decades.
