A huge part - It is almost impossible for me to write without music of some sort. eg a lot of calmer chapters in my book are written while I listen to The Smell Of Mushroom (Stardew Valley), & parts with The Cat often involve 13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round the Side of Your Bed

I write eco-horror, fairytales, religious horror, & weird shit. In my previous incarnation, I was a goth/industrial DJ. My musical tastes are eclectic, ranging from Newfoundland jigs to industrial noise to electropop to opera to Algerian rai to oldschool country-western.

Listening to lyrics can lead to lyrical lines.

I’ve got eclectic tastes, Pink Floyd and Tool are at the top, Linkin Park and Korn are right up there, Lady Gaga and Lola Young, Type O, Led Zep, AOC, Beatles, Nirvana, The Weeknd, Eminem (first 3 or 4 albums anyway)…

My punk rock x folk horror novel starred an old punk musician, but his playlist was indie folk-girls and that built my writing playlist because it helped solidify the mood of the book. But I constantly reference songs and artists, and even wrote a song for that novel.
