#birdoftheday #heronsandegrets I took this today & I really don't know what to say here. It's different, all right, & perching on dinosaur bones pulls the whole image together. I guess. Alt may help a little.

Perched just above the water on the base of bent cattail reeds, a green heron faces the camera and looks slightly to the right. While the gorgeous iridescent green feathers on its wings, which are the typical highlight of this bird's beauty, are not visible in this photo, its chest and underside are also beautiful. Streaks of white run through reddish-brown feathers from its throat to its sides and all the way down to its legs. #birdoftheday #heronsandegrets I'm pretty sure she was underwhelmed by this gift of another stick for the nest. He didn't read her body language very well & things got a bit fractious, when she conveyed "oh you shouldn't have!" I think she meant it all right. Awful light that day.

Mom had died an hour before, in the room where I was standing when this green heron appeared. (Dad had died only a month prior.)

An hour later, I got a call from my wife saying please come, MY mother is dying. She did, 3 days later.
