In the #BattleOfCableStreet, on #ThisDayInHistory in 1936, about 200,000 #antifascists, #anarchists, #socialists, and #Jewish & #Irish workers in London's #EastEnd faced off against #OswaldMosley's #BritishUnionOfFascists and the #police, routing both & chasing off the #fascists.

Today is the 90th anniversary of the 'Battle of Cable Street' when residents of Tower Hamlets in East London blocked roads to prevent the British Union of Fascists from marching through the area.

At this point, it should probably also be recognised that Mosleys blackshirts were prevented from marching through London's East End in 1936 by *the public*, not by the police...
