I broke down and used chat gpt for some of the editing for color and detail. Is this "cheating"?

a closeup of a fiery skipper crouching before springing into flight from the petals of a pink, cream and butter-yellow lantana blossom. The butterfly is deerskin-brown with darker spots. The blossom is out of the depth of field, as is the verdant background.

Preening drama or an aggressive plucking match? Either way, someone left a piece of themselves out on the water today. 🪶🌿🥬🍂🍁🦉

A close-up photograph captures a small cluster of feathers floating on the smooth, light blue surface of a pond. The batch of feathers—likely pulled during grooming or a scuffle—is bound together at the base, with fluffy white down feathers pointing left and smoother, dark grey-and-blue contoured feathers fanning out to the right. The calm water creates a crisp, upside-down reflection directly beneath them, forming a striking, symmetrical shape resembling a tiny floating sailboat.

What appears to be a brown bocce ball is in fact a roly poly conglogating, or rolling into a ball, on a sunlit stretch of concrete.

The roly poly thinks the danger has receded and begins struggling back to its feet on a sun-bathed stretch of concrete.

The roly poly continues on its way across a stretch of sunbathed concrete. The concrete is a gentle beige. The insect is a harder and shinier, darker brown, arranged in interlocking plates like a lobster's.

Atlantic Birding has set today's #BirdOfTheDay as Seabirds, and the alt as #Airborne. I was so tickled to catch this shot of a crow taking flight. Rather comical, those scrawny legs.

From a storefront rooftop, one crow is standing on a ledge while the other has just taken off. The bird in flight has its wings spread wide and is tilted left. It's thin legs are hanging straight down from its body.

a closeup of a grasshopper on a concrete wall. The grasshopper's coloration is at once intensely green and a little muted, with muted yellow patches under the legs. The eyes have a reddish cast. The wall, naturally drab gray, is lit by golden sunlight.

Sometimes, the best moments in nature happen when you simply look across.

These Canada Geese have clearly mastered the art of soaking up the sun while keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood - the perfect rooftop getaway! 🪿🌞

A Rooftop Rendezvous

Two Canada Geese stand several feet apart along the ridge of a gray shingled residential roof, with a metal chimney vent between them. Both are upright and alert, enjoying the bright sunshine. A large leafy green tree and clear blue sky fill the background.

Soaking Up the Sunshine

A Canada Goose stands upright on a sunlit rooftop, facing left. Its black neck, distinctive white cheek patch, and intricately patterned brown feathers are clearly visible. Dense green foliage and patches of brilliant blue sky create a vibrant summer backdrop.

The Rooftop Lookout

A Canada Goose stands tall on the ridge of a shingled rooftop, its black head and long neck contrasting with its white cheek patches and brown-gray feathers. Bright sunlight illuminates its body against a lush backdrop of green tree leaves.

Photo of two monk parakeets perched in a tree snuggled together, one preening the other. The one being preened is leaning into the other parakeet and looks very cute and content with their feather fluffed up. Everything is muted in the dawn light, and there’s pale gray-blue sky behind the parrots.

8/8 Coexistence takes good science, humane management, and infrastructure designed with other living beings in mind. We brought monk parakeets here. They learned how to survive alongside us. Maybe adaptation shouldn’t be a one-way expectation.
