I’ll shortly be visiting my former #OnePlaceStudy of #Dunster. I haven’t visited since 2023, & am very excited at the prospect 🤩 First stop will be Locks Tearoom for a ginger & honey cream tea 😋

I’ve just started working on a migration project for my #OnePlaceStudy. I suspect most of it will be local, but looking forward to finding out for sure

Having registered his #OnePlaceStudy of Chesham Bois last month, Brian Horridge has now submitted an In-Depth Report on the parish. In-Depth Reports are a great way to present an overview of your OPS online, especially if you do not have a website for your study. #OnePlaceStudy

After a break in August, posting of Badsey, Aldington and Wickhamford #OnePlaceStudy articles on the [Badsey Society] website has resumed this month with 2 added so far. Check out The Badsey Barbers, and Joseph Payton (1871-1951) – absentee owner of Field Farm, Wickhamford. #OnePlaceWednesday

Image: Photo of the view across a narrow lake. In the foreground there is grass, with reeds at the water's edge. On the opposite shore are more reeds, and three large Oak trees standing at the bottom of a grassy field that occupies the sloping ground rising beyond the water. At the top of the slope, just visible on the left, is part of Fawsley Hall, and on the right, Fawsley St Mary's church with its tower. There are trees in the wide gap between those buildings. Above, a few fluffy clouds and a couple of contrails adorn a blue sky, the colour of which is reflected in the water of the lake.

#AncestryHour Don't get me started on lousy indexing or we could be here all day. I'm still steamed about the 1911 Census of England and Wales for my #OnePlaceStudy place being mis-indexed *by TNA* so none of the online "repositories" like Ancestry or findmypast are willing to fix it.

Oh my goodness, this happened to.tje blog while I was sleeping! 2m??? 2m??? Blimey, who'd have thought 13 years ago when I started that, well we'd have continued for 13 years, and reach 2m page views?! Thanks to everyone with an interest on Loughborough, my #OnePlaceStudy

I was excited to find a former tallow chandlers in Ashby-de-la-Zouch which is just down the road from Loughborough my #OnePlaceStudy. I wrote about some Loughborough rallies chandlers in one of my books. Wish I'd taken a photo inside! lynneaboutloughborough.blogspot.com/2026/09/tall...

I have been busy transcribing death notices, obituaries etc from old newspapers for my #OnePlaceStudy of Waters Upton in #Shropshire, and have added 70 new items to the Death Notices page of my OPS website. Plenty of #OnePlaceBurials included in the nearly 200 items now on that page!

#GenHour This week Newspapers-dot-com had some good hits for my #OnePlaceStudy. Definitely recommend setting up alerts on newspaper sites if they offer that feature.

@oneplacestudies.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 2:09 PM

Lots of them in my family tree, and also in my Waters Upton #OnePlaceStudy! I like to think that every one of them was out standing in their field...

What's interesting about this Family Notice?
- both parties are from Devon (Slapton and Kingsbridge) but the marriage took place in Exeter
- the paper was published in Cheshire

It was brought to my attention by an alert I set up for my #OnePlaceStudy.
