Big milestone for us at the @unibe.ch! The laser altimeter BELA, built under our leadership, was operated successfully for the first time after leaving our facilities exactly 10 years ago. BepiColombo, BELA, and all of us are now ready for science at Mercury starting in March 2027! #planetSci

Samples of asteroid Ryugu collected by Hayabusa2 are similar to Ivuna-type (CI) meteorites. Kawasaki et al. use isotopic measurements of Ryugu and Ivuna to show that their parent bodies formed only 2 million years after the beginning of the Solar System. β˜„οΈπŸ” #planetsci

What's next for BepiColombo?

πŸ›°οΈ πŸŒ‘ ↩️ On 21 November, the two orbiters, ESA's Bepi and JAXA's Mio will enter orbit around Mercury together

πŸ›°οΈ
πŸŒ‘ πŸ›°οΈ In December, the orbiters will separate from each other

πŸ”Ž Science operations will begin in April 2027

Stay tuned!

An infographic showing the different stages of BepiColombo's arrival at Mercury. Each step shows the configuration of the different spacecraft as they separate from one another, depicted as simplified grey drawings on a dark blue background. A vertical line connects the image for each step to the corresponding date and description at the bottom. An image of Mercury lies on the right edge of the infographic.

ESA brought out the big ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover to #EPSC2026 in Den Haag.
🍁 Canada was an original supporter of the ExoMars programme and provided the wheels and suspension and lenses for the cameras!

It's been a long time coming to get this far!!!

Wishing a Happy 49th Birthday to the mighty Voyager 1 mission.

Boldly going where no spacecraft has gone before.

Now 25.67 billion km (23.785 light hours) away. Sending science data back to humanity from the few instruments that still remain powered on.

Together, the stacked spacecraft travelled nine billion km, did 22 loops around the Sun and performed nine planetary flybys.

MTM's propulsion system is dependent on Bepi's computer control, so after today, MTM will float around the Sun indefinitely.
