Enjoyed your take on #EPSC2026 Chris! I had exactly the same experience at the bistro. Ordered the pea soup and ended up scoffing down something else in 5 mins, but on a different day! Dunno why they leave it on the menu when it clearly doesn't exist 😅

Recorded while I was at #EPSC2026, a surprisingly thorough answer to ‘What did I do yesterday?’ shows.acast.com/what-did-you...

🌍✨ Last week, the FormingWorlds group attended the Europlanet Science Congress (#EPSC2026) in The Hague. We had a great time with Karen Stuitje, Saphira Brandenberger, @marianasastre.bsky.social, Emeline Decocq, @marattia.bsky.social, Lorenzo Cesario, Ema Jungová & @timlichtenberg.bsky.social!

What a remarkable two weeks it has been: sharing results from three missions, joining the celebrations around BepiColombo separation, presenting at #Mercury2026, and exchanging ideas with the planetary community at #EPSC2026. Busy days!

Marc Delcroix‘s ”Detect” software for impact flashes on Jupiter has now been running since 2012: 0.5 million videos analysed, from 300 observers in 50 countries, equivalent to 500 days of continuous obs. Stats suggest there should be ~20 flashes/year… but we haven’t seen one since 2023 #EPSC2026

The #EPSC2026 meetings have always had a strong presence of amateur astronomers, and a session dedicated to pro-am collaboration. Right now, Ricardo Hueso is sharing our hopes for observational support for #ESAJuice in the 2030s, following the success of Juno collaborations.

So leaving #EPSC2026 in The Hague. As always a pleasure, only the venue was a bit on the small side. Next year is in Toulouse, looking forward.

It's been great to see so many familiar names in person at #EPSC2026, incl. authors & editors of Space Science Reviews — here is Haje Korth checking out the book version of the Europa Clipper Mission article collection!

Made it to #Pluto and was almost eaten by seagulls! Walking the #planet tour all the way from the Sun at the #EPSC2026 conference venue out to #Scheveningen beach in my afternoon off.

Talk done. Some good questions, and that concludes my contributions to #EPSC2026, after 2 talks and a session chairing! Phew, now I can relax and enjoy the rest of the conference 😅

Pleased to report I’ve made it for my annual education in comets cc @astrokiwi.bsky.social #EPSC2026

This is quietly big news for @esa. General chat around #EPSC2026 is a strong desire to reduce dependence on perfidious NASA, driving Europe to new capabilities and partners (see expanding partnership with JAXA for BepiColombo and beyond)

@nickattree.eurosky.socialSep 10, 2026, 6:31 AM

In the Sun room this morning for active bodies session, including my talk on coupling #comet ☄️ activity and surfaces through modelling. The biggest room in the whole #EPSC2026, but the morning after conference social...so looking rather empty at 8.30 in the morning 😅

@leighfletcher.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 3:41 PM

A lot of the coffee-discussion here at #EPSC2026 has been about European-led future exploration of the outer solar system, for Saturn and beyond. This would be a game-changer.

@nickattree.eurosky.socialSep 9, 2026, 3:18 PM

Closing out the day with Michael talking about @vrubinobs.bsky.social finding targets for @cometinterceptor.bsky.social. Sporting a nice Comet Interceptor t-shirt! I need to get me one of those :) #EPSC2026

@europlanetmedia.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 1:41 PM

Attention #EPSC2026 participants! The map for the "Eclipse around Europe" activity had finally arrived! You can head to the Europlanet stand to print your picture from the eclipse and add it to the map! :)

Analogue modelling and Venusian mantle dynamics at #EPSC2026

We presented two of our latest studies, exploring lithospheric dripping and delamination beneath coronae, and how the giant polygonal structure of Venusian lowlands may reveal deeper mantle dynamics.

When #EuropaClipper arrives at Jupiter, #ESAJuice will still be in its cruise. But from April 2030, JUICE could serve as a great “upstream monitor,” tracking the solar wind before it reaches Clipper within Jupiter‘s complex magnetic environment. We just have to switch on the payload early. #EPSC2026

@leighfletcher.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 12:55 PM

Both of these Jupiter-bound spacecraft are heading back to Earth to gain speed for the slingshot to Jupiter. #ESAJuice flys past on September 28th, #EuropaClipper on December 3rd, giving them both the opportunity to test instruments and hopefully do some new science. #EPSC2026
