The fields are black. Freshly tilled and furrowed, the soil rolls corduroyed and rippled, far beneath the drifting glide and sharp eyes of the raptor that rises high into the skies, tipping its wings to slice through the dawn's early light.

“You’re the bravest man I’ve ever met!”

“Mam, I’m terrified,” he answers, preparing his sword. “This guy’s a ten-foot-tall cannibal, and I probably look tasty. But I ain’t gonna let fear stop me from giving him a fight… or at least a bad case of indigestion!”

Today’s dysfunction
