Caldwell Vineyard Platinum Proprietary Red 2013, Napa Valley, California #AgedWineTuesday Inky in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing much age. Strong nose of red and black fruits with cedar, licorice, coffee, light earth, herbs, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates, eucalyptus and mediterranean spices. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, herbs, spices, light cola, chocolates and peppercorn. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This gorgeous 13 year old Cabernet Franc based Bordeaux blend from Coombsville in Napa Valley is drinking at its peak now. Rich, extracted and 'in your face' kind of wine. Nicely balanced and very complex. The Carmenere is very dominant right now, and it feels more like a Napa Merlot. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Delicious right out of the bottle, and even better after 45 minutes of airtime. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 51% Cabernet Franc, 32% Carmenere, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot. Aged in all new French oak barrels. A tiny production of 1,044 bottles. 15% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $260.

Anomaly Vineyards St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley, California Inky in color with a reddish rim. Strong fruity nose, and medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate and very elegant. Showing blue and black fruits with wood, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, spices, chocolates and light black tea. Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now, although feels a little tight and young. Elegant and rich, but not extracted. Fruit forward with good structure. Complex and interesting, spicy and entertaining. Needs a few hours to open up properly, so be patient. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. Aged in (80% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. 14.7% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $235.

Domaine de la Mordorée La Reine des Bois Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2021, Rhône, France This is a nice and easy drinking Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Showing red fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, light vegetables and peppercorn. Spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and elegant. Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. I had this vintage a year ago at the winery, and it was drinking so much better then. Good by itself and better with food. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Aged in (20% new) large French oak barrels. 15.5% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $125.

Fruity nose of black fruits with cedar and chocolate notes. Full-bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, cooked plums, figs, vanilla, licorice, cedar, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth and peppercorn. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious 12 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward with a soft mouthfeel. complex and interesting. This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years. Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Another great wine from the hands of Philippe Melka. Good by itself, and will pair nicely with a big piece of steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French Oak barrels for 20 months. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $200.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, spices, coffee, light earth, herbs, eucalyptus and tobacco leaf. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot from Oakville in Napa valley. Nicely balanced and complex, soft and elegant. Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Alcohol is nicely integrated already, smooth and engaging. I had the 2021 vintage not too long ago, and it is very consistent. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $90.

Dry on the palate with a beautiful nose. Showing black plums, black currants, cedar, dried figs, licorice, dark chocolates, earth, rhubarb, tobacco leaf, light black tea and black pepper. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries. This 32 year old Pauillac is still drinking beautifully, but a bit past its prime. Rich and elegant. Very complex and spicy. This Second Growth Bordeaux needed 5 hours to open up properly, and was not that special right out of the bottle. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and still showing enough fruits to balance the earth notes. Robert Parker 91 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and with food. A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. 12.5% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $200.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years. Rich and fruit forward, elegant and smooth. Complex and interesting, spicy and entertaining. Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This 4 year old Super Tuscan Merlot is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced and elegant. Complex and entertaining. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, and balance itself out. Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Wine Spectator 94 points. I had the 2021 vintage a couple of years ago at the winery, and it was much better. The 2022 vintage was not as good as the 2021, so there's that. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. 100% Merlot grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. 14% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $65.

Complex and entertaining. Already very approachable, although still very young, and needs time to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 95% Mourvedre, with Cinsault and Syrah. Aged in large French oak barrels for 18 months. A small production of less than 3,000 bottles. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $140.

Nose of citrus, over ripen apples, peaches, honey and herbs. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with apples, over ripened citrus, limes, spices, apricots, bitter herbs and light honey notes. Tangy finish with limes and lemon rind. This is an interesting 12 year old Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley in France. Rich and engaging. Tangy and spicy, complex and interesting. Still showing good balance with enough fruits for the acidity. Good right out of the bottle, and better when properly chilled. A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with my seafood salad. Always nice to try these kind of aged wines. 100% Chenin Blanc grapes. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 90 points.
