Update: I asked for a written response back and I have yet to hear anything. I’m concerned that Eric Jones of California’s 4th District is avoiding the answer or trying to get me on the phone to talk me down on trans issues.

I know it’s been a few days but this interaction is giving me 🚩 🫠

California scrub-jay on my deck just now. Warm day today in #Sonoma #California #Birds #Nature

Vérité Estate La Joie 2021, Sonoma County, California

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Nose of black currants, black cherries, light oak, spices, chocolates, herbs, coffee, licorice, tobacco leaf, earth, black tea and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs

Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, light oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, coffee and earth.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Sonoma County is already drinking beautifully. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and chewy, complex and engaging. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Still very young, and needs at least 7 years in the bottle to mature properly, so be patient. Will continue to age nicely in the next 25 years, and showing good potential to become a 95+ point wine.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged for 16 months in (95% new) French Oak barrels.

13.9% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$500.

Ramey Wine Cellars Westside Farms Estate Pinot Noir 2022, Russian River Valley, California

Reddish in color with medium intensity.

Beautiful nose of cherries, blueberries, earth, light wood, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf and herbs.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, currants, light wood, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This is a delicious Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley in California. Rich, and not too fruity, smooth and soft.

Already drinking beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is complex, elegant and nicely balanced. Feels like an old world Pinot.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.

100% Pinot Noir grapes were aged for 15 months in (40% new) French oak barrels. A small production of only 6,000 bottles.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

My son loves this photo I took earlier this week. Male House Finch eating berries. He said it looks like a gruesome scene of a lion eating a gazelle 🤭 #Birds #Nature #Sonoma #BirdPhotography

A close-up, eye-level photograph captures a male House Finch facing right as it perches on a cluster of elderberries. The small bird has a robust, conical seed-eating bill, currently stained with dark red juice from the fruit. Its head, face, and upper breast are a dusty reddish-pink, while its back and folded wings feature detailed brown-and-white streaking.
The bird stands directly atop a drooping cluster of ripe and decaying red elderberries, which hang from thin red stems. The berries vary in texture and color—some are plump, dark, and shriveled, while others are coated in a pale, whitish bloom. Bright green, serrated lance-shaped leaves surround the bird and the fruit cluster, interspersed with thin brown branches. The background is a soft, out-of-focus mix of warm sunlight and foliage.

Black Phoebe on my roof today, and a shocked looking Chestnut-backed Chickadee 😮 #Birds #Nature #Sonoma #California

A dark charcoal-grey or black bird with a contrasting bright white belly perched facing right on the rough, grey speckled shingles of a roof, set against a solid, vibrant blue sky.A small bird, likely a chickadee perched on a metal rod next to a dark feeder against a bright, hazy white background. The bird has a rounded, fluffy body, dark cap and bib, white cheeks, and is facing slightly right with its beak open.

The bird features a dark, near-black cap on its head and a matching dark bib under its chin. Its cheeks and a patch on the back of its neck show contrasting white plumage. Its belly and chest are a soft, pale off-white or light gray, while its back, wings, and flanks display muted brownish-gray tones. Its feet and short beak are dark gray or black.

The bird has an alert, animated, and vocal expression. With its small dark eye focused forward and its beak parted open, it appears to be singing, calling out, or excitedly chirping while perched.

I’ve been trying to get a good shot of a Red-winged Blackbird with both red shoulder patches showing and I finally got one yesterday at Schollenberger Park in #Petaluma. #Sonoma. #California. #Birds. #BirdPhotography #Canon R5m2 RF200-800

Got a few shots of this Northern Harrier hunting at Schollenberger Park in #Petaluma yesterday. Juvenile or female I presume. I was hoping it would catch something and I could get a shot of that but nope. #Sonoma #California #Birds #Nature #BirdPhotography

A Northern Harrier (marsh hawk), is captured in mid-flight. The bird is banking sharply downward with its wings arched and broad primary feathers spread, angled as if scanning the ground or preparing to drop toward prey.  It has distinctive dark brown and mottled plumage are visible on its back and wings, contrasted by a prominent white patch (rump patch) right above its tail. Its head is bowed downward, focused intently below.  The background features a soft-focus, muted blue-gray hillside under a clear sky, with natural daylight highlighting the texture of the hawk's wings and back.A medium shot captures a raptor in flight against a soft-focus, hazy blue-gray background. The bird is angled in profile, flying from left to right, with its head turned slightly downward as if scanning the ground below. Its wings are partially folded upward, displaying dark brown primary and covert feathers with lighter brown and tawny underwings. A distinct white patch is visible at the base of its tail.A medium shot captures a raptor in flight, viewed from behind and slightly above as it glides low over a marshy landscape. The bird's wings are spread, with the left wing angled sharply upward in mid-flap and the right wing extended outward. A bright white rump patch is clearly visible at the base of its dark-tipped tail. The background consists of a textured, low-lying field of green grasses and muted brown foliage under natural daylight.

Saw this Eurasian Collared-Dove yesterday in Petaluma. It’s invasive to North America, but still nice. It competes with our native Mourning Doves. #Birds #Sonoma. Build a wall 🤷🏼‍♂️😔 California classifies them as a game bird with no bag limits and a year-round open season.

A side-profile medium shot of an Eurasian Collared-Dove perched on a weathered, dark wooden stump against a background of tall, vertical reeds in shades of gold, brown, and green. The medium-sized dove has pale grayish-buff plumage, a small head with a dark eye, and a thin black collar edged with white around the back of its neck. Its folded wings show slightly darker gray-brown primary feathers, and its long, squared tail extends backward with white outer tail feathers visible underneath.
