🌶️ Now that it’s cooled down and 🌧️ one of my “Rocoto Manzano” plants has suddenly had a flush of new flowers erupting from the very top of the plant.

It’s probably way too late for these to develop into ripe fruit, which is a shame 😐

🫙 Despite slicing half-open these large “Fatali Yellow” pods, they took a few days to dry out until properly crispy. A quick whiz in the blender and I have some lovely atomic yellow powder to jar for the year ahead 🤗

Endless supply of spice!

These are a marked difference from the before picture of the same tray shown above in an earlier tweet. All trays of dried “Fatali Yellow” chilli pods have been assembled onto a dark chopping board, before being scooped up and crammed into a container for blending. The result of the blending is a bright yellow powder arranged in a pile on a square of white kitchen roll, placed on a dark chopping board.

🫑 The Sweet Peppers are starting to come off the production line outside at a rate I cannot keep up with 🤢 The larger bell peppers are starting to run ripe red too.

I’ll need to chop, bag and freeze these, if I can find space in a chest freezer.

Four clear plastic tubs arranged in a grid on an outdoor picnic bench. There are two larger square tubs and two rectangular plastic punnets, each filled with Sweet Peppers of various sizes. The two larger tubs have red, yellow and orange lunchbox sized fruit, while the smaller punnets have medium-sized pods and full-sized bell peppers in the top-right corner.

🍲 I’ve made quite a few recipes from Anna Jones’ “Easy Wins” already this year - some pictured below, others I couldn’t fit in - with plenty more still to do.

Plus, attempted to grow as much as I can in my own garden.

🌧️ What a wonderful sight to open the curtains to… actual, persistent rainfall overnight. And continuing through the morning as a billy bonus!

As a grower, I am doing a happy dance right now 🕺

🎃 Not the greatest Squash season that I’ve had 🫤 There’s been very little rain these past few months, and I couldn’t keep their patch properly watered.

Three shorter life (the orange ones), plus three Winter Squash (the grey ones) that’ll last.

🌶️ As these are quite large pods I wasn’t able to freeze all that many in the tub I’m filling up in the freezer. Too many Chilli frozen already! 😊

So now I’m drying three layers of pods in the dehydrator to make some Chilli spice powder.

🌶️ It’s starting to look like a whole bunch of pods are ripening, so I’ll be planning 🌶️ Chilli Care Packages 📦 quite soon - usually a few in September + more in October.

Loads of new varieties to try this year plus more of my favourites.

🌶️ Found a whole bunch of ripe Fatali Yellow pods to be harvested when I thought to go looking just now 🤗

This truly is a prolific variety. I only have the one plant after giving away my spare earlier in the year, but I knew I’d get plenty ☺️

🫑 As I open up the garden every morning - opening doors/panels to clear humidity/moisture, turning plants, etc - I inevitably spot some ripe fruits.

Today’s haul! 🤗

Lunchbox sized Sweet Peppers, the full-sized Peppers are coming, and Padrons ⬇️

Three clear plastic tubs arrange in two rows on an outdoor picnic bench. Top-left contains lunchbox-sized Peppers in assorted colours - yellow, orange and red. Top-right contains some larger-sized Peppers that have all turned red - and more are on their way now these have started turning/ripening. And at the bottom are a bunch of ripe red Padron Peppers.
