Raindrops on Lamb's Quarters, also called Goosefoot, a nutritious edible that has also earned the name Wild Spinach. The leaves are covered in water repelling waxy crystals, seen magnified through the drops.

Another great find from a few weeks ago. This is believed to be a cluster of Yellow Honey mushrooms (Armillaria mellea). Found in Morris County, NJ. This year has been a banner year for #foraging and my #mycology hobby.

Marshmallows are named after this plant! The old sweet was made from the mucilage in marsh mallow root, which is the same slippery stuff that coats a raw throat.

I blitzed this leek, potato and carrot soup and it’s a lovely colour. I put carrots in for this result. The lid ready for the freezer is lying on top of my eggs.

Prunus serotina, Black Cherries, are native to most of the Eastern US.

To harvest: put the cherries in a blender (low) or food processor with lemon juice (1:4). Process, then strain through a fine seive or cheesecloth.
Use juice in dressings, frostings, drinks.
