A low-angle, close-up photograph of a warm ochre-orange mushroom tilted sideways among upright, green blades of grass. The underside of the cap is prominently displayed, showing fine, densely packed gills radiating outward in soft golden-apricot tones. The stem emerges from dry ground litter, where small, bright red berries rest on the earth. Natural daylight filters through the foliage, creating a quiet, earthy, and intimate autumn atmosphere at soil level.

Trying to Hide. (And they almost managed it!)

A low-angle, eye-level close-up of a cluster of small, pale beige and cream-coloured mushrooms growing through dry, curled autumn leaves. The delicate, rounded mushroom caps gather tightly together on thin white stems. Behind them, the massive, mossy trunk and wide buttress roots of an old woodland tree rise into soft, out-of-focus greens and earthy shadows. The lighting is diffused and natural, giving the forest floor a peaceful, rustic, and quiet autumn atmosphere.

Close-up, low-angle photograph of a large, pale mushroom growing on a woodland floor. The rounded cap is covered in thick, rough, cream and tan scales that lift slightly outward like feathers. A pale, slender stem supports the heavy cap, rising out of a bed of dark brown pine needles, decaying twigs, and patches of green moss. The lighting is soft and subdued, casting gentle shadows across the textured woodland ground.

Apparently it's bruising from rain and animals that cause the colours. Never knew. buff.ly/V3Ud7vy

Top-down macro photograph of an aging wild mushroom cap lying among wet grass and fallen pine needles. The mushroom has a circular form with ruffled outer edges in a warm pumpkin orange shade. Inward from the rim, a broad ring of verdigris and dark jade-green bruising surrounds a lighter buff-tan centre. A pool of rainwater rests in the shallow central depression, catching pale daylight reflections. The mood is quiet, earthy, and damp.

A dense colony of delicate, cream-coloured mushrooms carpets a decaying log on a dark forest floor. Each mushroom features a rounded, pale cap with subtle golden-brown undertones at the crown and a slender, fibrous stalk. Soft, diffuse woodland light catches the smooth tops of the caps, while rich, crumbly bark, dried mulch, and a single deep-green ivy leaf nestle among the shaded undergrowth below, creating an intimate, autumnal scene.

Had a little luck with lobsters! Lobster #mushrooms, that is. Hypomyces lactifluorum infecting the mushrooms of Russula sp. so it can use them to spread its own spores without using the resources needed to build mushrooms. #fungi #FungiFriends #foraging #MushroomHunting

Three orange and white mushrooms with a velvety texture resting on a dark wood tabletop. Two are mostly orange, the third is white splashed with orange.

In the dark while the rain fell
The gold chanterelles pushed through a sleep
that was not mine
Waking me
So that I came up the mountain to find them
