Trapped in the
Anchorage
Of familiarity,
Looking out to
An #Island
Shimmering on
The horizon,
A monument
Of stillness
Offering
The daunting
Beauty of solitude,
A sanctuary hovering
In the distance,
Balanced upon
The precipice of
This existence.

I'm
Softening to the idea of
Loss
And
Negating my fear of
Death

I could be your alibi
You, my long goodbye
Each others light
Before the dark
The binding love
Between two hearts
The fusion of union
Before we depart
Just you and I
An #island of stars

We buried Dad, again, on a little #island in the Sacramento River. Used to be a church there, and the priest we consulted said the ruins were enough to consecrate the whole island. That and the fact there’s running water on all sides might just keep Dad in the ground.

no man is an #island
unto himself; and all the world's
a stage, or so they say,
men and women merely players.
so in this soliloquy, solipsistic
we build bridges of words
and scream across the screen
to find someone real

no #island deprives her from her livelihood
she's going to recover what he ripped away
#subjected to living without necessities for survival
soon to be #kissing the ground once walked upon
#asserting #valor #percolating within
bidding misery #goodbye

Gugh

The sea breathes in and out,
The strand- with waves
First covered and uncovered -
Breaks then saves
The brush clad hillside
As an #island throne:
Sister of Agnes
Far West, sunk and lone,
Under the salt soaked winds
A granite grave
Where Arthur waits
And the old world is done

Shifting sands soothed the soles
Of a solitary soul
In search of solitude
Away from those marooned
On their inland #island

At last I found my lonely #island,
in a quite corner of the library,
by the window, hidden behind
the economy books, where even
I wouldn't normally go.
There's just enough room for me
& you, Miss Friday, & some
rambler #roses peeking
through the window.

If I could acquire funds without being stealthy
That would upgrade me to independently wealthy
Island life would suit me
With lots of blue to see
Outdoor life like that could only make me more healthy

you and me
we were never two islands
only one shore
divided
by tides of time

Sometimes we need intimacy
a closeness of touch
gilded words
shared between two people
other times
we need solitude
to be alone in our own thoughts
an island in an endless ocean
a solitary swan drifting away
