For today's #arachtober post I'd just like to share one of my favourite Youtube channels. This is a spider enthusiast who makes wonderful videos about the spiders that live in your house. It also has a very catchy theme song that is always stuck in my head.

A Cardinal Jumping Spider and grasshopper from the garden today for #Arachtober. Phidippus cardinalis. #spiders #gardening

A black spider with a large crimson red head and deep orange abdomen punctuated with two rows of black dots clasps a grasshopper, together with several grass spikelets. In the background are blurry green and yellow bitterweed flowers. These spiders are mimics of velvet ants, which are actually wasps with a painful sting. Oklahoma Northern Crosstimbers ecoregion 29a.

It's #Arachtober so nobody is allowed to be upset about spider pics this month.

A very majestic female giant house spider seen today in a hedgehog house. There was a small male in there with her so we quickly left the two lovebirds to it.

Past few years I’ve been autumnal blessed by a Cat Face Orbweaver (Araneus gemmoides) in my roses.

I just discovered her today and love her already.

I made an interesting Freudian slip yesterday when I said "#Arachtober goes for all year!" 🕷️

#Arachtober 3: that quintessential sight of autumn in northeastern North America, the super pregnant grass spider (_Agelenopsis_). They make egg sacs, attached to surfaces and camouflaged with debris, which won't hatch till next year.

They are often confused […]

A spider seen by night on a log fence. She has long thin but not overly spindly legs, a brown and beige lengthwise-striped head with a cluster of uniformly small eyes at the front, and an extremely large swollen abdomen with two sort of rough dark lines running lengthwise and speckled flanks.

It’s #Arachtober!

i forgot the #arachtober tag!
i didn't see that spider hunting last night, (it was very wet and i didn't see many moths out & about so maybe that's why)

these spiders hunt by putting a ball of sticky silk at the end of a thread and swinging it at male moths. the spiders can mimic moth pheromones!

I found this cut little burrowing wolf spider on one of my walks. She must have been used to foot traffic, inches from the sidewalk, so I saw her a few days and then I brought out my camera on Halloween night last year.

I can never get over how adorable baby spiders are. Here's some in their first days when they still hang out in a big teeming ball of teeny tiny spiders. <3 <3 <3 #arachtober

Does somebody need a hug? Actually, if you’re an insect, it’s best to avoid a hug from a Flower Crab Spider! The same #spider who appears in the post above – this time with alt text, which I somehow missed last time. #Arachtober #Invertebrates #UKWildlife 🌿

Photo of a Flower Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) lying in wait for prey near the top of an Orchid flower spike. We are looking at the flower spike from above, with the spider perched on the side of the spike and facing up towards us. The cephalothorax (the combined head and thorax), which is much smaller than the large ovoid abdomen behind it, is - along with the palps and legs which extend from it - a slightly yellowish white in colour, the yellow tint being stronger around the eyes and towards the tips of the palps and legs. The first two pairs are held open (the right legs pointing down towards the bottom of the picture and the left legs towards the top left), ready to spring forward and grab any insect landing on the flower spike in front of the spider. The third and fourth pairs of legs are holding on the flowers. The abdomen is white, with a hint of pale green on the upper surface. The Orchid flowers are a pale pink or purple in colour, with darker pink/purple spots and streaks.
