I spent the day sorting out the life of Phoebe Beckendall who left her husband Charles Rixon & children. She settled with Charles Reeley in Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy using the surname Kitson. I knew something was up as she was 12 years older. There were three children born in Colnbrook…

Hello #GenHour! Hope you’re all doing ok & having many #FamilyHistory & #OnePlaceStudy successes! We’ve been camping at a festival this week, so my research time has been restricted, but I’ve been collaborating with a cousin on one of our mutual lines

Just got this message while trying to use Ancestry for #OnePlaceStudy research, and I guess the revolution has begun...

Screen grab showing part of an error page on Ancestry. It says: Error 1101, Worker threw exception.

#genealogy Your nice 3x great-grandmother probably married somebody out on one of the tippy-end branches like a 4x cousin 1R and I have no idea whether it's one of my main trees, a #OnePlaceStudy, my immigration research tree, or whatever. If the surnames are common, I am clueless abt where she is.

The latest Batley St. Mary of the Angels post is about the 1937 May Queen ceremony. Rita Kelly was that year’s May Queen.

A Coroner’s Notebook is the latest blog post for The Lost Hamlets of Rowley Regis #OnePlaceStudy. In an OPS-connected diversion from Rowley Regis, this post highlights Ancestry’s West Yorkshire, England, County Coroner Notebooks, 1852-1909 as a source of information on an inquest. #OnePlaceWednesday

The parts of the house we can see are built from sandy-coloured limestone, with small windows, while the tall chimney stacks are made of red brick. Above is a blue sky, and closer to us, partly obscuring the view of the building, is a tall, evergreen hedge.

Found myself today on a cool database I'd never seen before. The National Archives Lay & Clerical Taxation Database. Found like 30 records from 1543-1674 for my #OnePlaceStudy. Now to find where all the 18th C. records are hiding... #Genealogy www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/e179/search....
