Also back in time I read the essay "When the Book Wasn’t Better or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Adaptation" by the @inktofilm.bsky.social team of Luke Elliott and James Bailey. A fascinating discussion about adaptations. www.uncannymagazine.com/article/when...

One of the things I’ve found as I get older is that I’m completely uninterested in “the book is always better” as a truism. Excited to dig into this!

This was an excellent article and a wonderful podcast. Any of my followers who are also avid readers and/or lover of movies should read this article and most importantly follow this great podcast.

Maaaaan, after this you should have had the next episode be Annihilation! (But you probably already did it.)

lol yeah that would’ve been good timing, but we did it way back when it first came out! Remy actually joined us for it share.google/uDqKxep7Lo7x...

Author @lauracranehill.bsky.social (WIFE SHAPED BODIES) joins to compare Stalker (1979) to the book it was based on: ROADSIDE PICNIC. This strange, beautiful film got us wondering, would this be the way to adapt her novel? Our full episode with her is available now wherever you listen to podcasts!

It’s long been a dream of mine to be published by @uncannymagazine.bsky.social, one of THE top magazines in genre fiction. Today, I’m excited to say I am—but with nonfiction! That I get to share the spotlight w/ my Ink to Film co-host @jamebail.bsky.social makes it all the better. I hope all enjoy!

Movie 3 is “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” (2018) based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson. Our coverage begins on this one for my podcast Ink to Film later this week!

Night 2 film is a classic I’ve never seen! Not expecting to love it, but interested to see where the franchise began

@luminousluke.bsky.socialOct 3, 2026, 12:12 AM

Good fun! Overall it was cool, definitely some badass and harrowing sequences that will stick with me. Some really funny moments, too. There was a good bit of plot convenience to move things along, and the day-for-night shots were a mixed bag, but overall good stuff. Glad to have watched it now

A first time viewer (@luminousluke.bsky.social) joins two Stalker fans to go deep into The Zone, but is it better than the source, ROADSIDE PICNIC? Author @lauracranehill.bsky.social re-joins the show to cast her vote!

Decided to challenge myself to watch 31 horror movies I haven’t seen yet this October, basically because I’ve missed a bunch I wanted to see over the years and why not knock a bunch out, right? So I put them all in a big list and did a random selection—first up is Nope (2022)! Excited 👽

Author Laura Cranehill (WIFE SHAPED BODIES) joins this week to help cover ROADSIDE PICNIC by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky, the basis for Stalker (1979)!

We're spoiler-free to start, so join us in the Visitation Zone--what could go wrong?
