Have you ever wondered how cells in developing embryos manage to squeeze through tiny spaces? And how do they cope with mechanical stresses imposed by surrounding tissues?
Check out our paper, now out @natcellbio.nature.com :

Sascha Amann won the 2026 Rabitsch Award! 🏆 A recent PhD graduate from the CryoEM Technology Platform, Amann received the award for his research on how the proteasome recognises and degrades proteins tagged with ubiquitin: https://bit.ly/4hQTCs1

DNA → RNA → protein.

From single mRNAs to an entire developing vertebrate embryo, we can now watch this last step unfold in real time.

Our paper is out today! 🐟🔬

After excising an intron, the spliceosome gets trapped on the branched intron-lariat RNA. How are such dead-end spliceosomes terminated? Our latest paper led by @vytaute.bsky.social investigates the mechanism of spliceosome termination www.nature.com/articles/s41... (1/6)

Check out our latest work on developmental scaling: collective cell migration speeds up in larger animals and slows down in smaller ones, helping maintain a constant pace of tissue morphogenesis across different-sized animals. @ybellaichelab.bsky.social

Let's talk about the HALLOWEEN GENES (really). 1979: It was a dark & stormy night⛈️& a scientist (Eric Wieschaus) is laboring over a microscope🔬, observing the dead remains of ... a fruitfly🪰. But not just ANY fruitfly. This was a TWISTED & MUTATED fruitfly with a GHOSTLY, transparent appearance.

We are so excited to have @dorie00.bsky.social Doris Kaltenecker join the @impvienna.bsky.social soon. Doris is using cutting edge technologies to study cancer cachexia. I can highly recommend joining a junior lab and can't wait to have her around!

🐟 New preprint ! 🐟 For Hippo pathway aficionados. We generated a CRISPR/Cas9 mediated single-copy endogenous Yap1-mGreenLantern fusion protein in medaka to follow Yap1 dynamics in vivo, through embryogenesis and beyond. And it is such a beautiful line ! 🧵

🎉Preprint out! In our new manuscript, we reveal that, much like us, wake up (proliferation) and sleeping (quiescence) patterns of adult neural stem cells are controlled by the circadian clock machinery. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
